BIO Mykel Monica Fairchild was born on April 17, 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia. Her mother, Cynthia Howard Fairchild, was an RN and her father, Richard Fairchild, was a Doctor and Surgeon at the local hospital. Mykel has two younger sisters, and has always been close to her family. Throughout her life, Mykel was fascinated by animals, loving each and every one she came into contact with. As a child, she began checking out books from the library with information about animals and how to care for them. She’s known from childhood that she wanted to be a veterinarian.
Mykel excelled throughout school, and graduated top of her class with honors before continuing her education at NC State in Raleigh, North Carolina where she attended undergrad and graduate school to obtain her DVM licensure. During her time in school, Mykel met a man whom she fell in love with. The pair dated from the time she was a freshman and he a sophomore. They remained together throughout college, and were married just before Mykel began her graduate school program. At first the two had a happy marriage, however just before Mykel graduated, things took a turn for the worst, and the pair decided to separate. The marriage ended in a subsequent divorce. Mykel took some time to figure herself out, and decided to find herself overseas. She had a cousin who’d made the move to the UK several years previous, so she decided to move in with her in Woodcrest. Mykel took the necessary exams to switch her licensure to the UK, and has now become the town’s Veterinarian!
