Check these guys out. A friend introduced me to their music a couple of years ago and I decided to revisit some of their songs today. Truly talented, passionate artists from right here in NYC. Enjoy.

Bird Courage - “Channels”
scrapped: August 25, 2015
These guys have a show coming up at Rough Trade this week. While I won’t be able to go, it’s been so cool to see their name pop up more and in more places. I remember the first time I heard a song by them and bookmarked in over a year ago on my Musicplayr profile. Back then I remember thinking, “This is just some really nice, melodic and sweetly harmonized, but also natural sounding acoustic pop.”
I still feel that way and I still like this band. More people just like them now too –which is okay.
I hate birds, but I like courage. I also like Bird Courage. But I hate birds with courage. Such a thin line this band walks.
C’mon c’mawn!
Kiwi Brooklyn based indie-folk outfit Streets of Laredo play at a loft in Bushwick, New York with special guests Erik Meier of Bird Courage and Simon Oscroft of Midnight Youth.

2015 Concerts || #1: Bird Courage @ Rough Trade January 2, 2015, Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
I said it on Instragram, but I'm having a hard time finding the right words to describe my first concert of 2015. Bird Courage (birdcourageband) is a Brooklyn based duo, widely recognized for their subway performances, but they're not your average guys-with-guitars-making-noise in-between-passing-G trains. Erik and Samuel's sound cause you to take note, to pause. Their sounds flood your spirit and capture your heart, thanks in part to Erik's piecing vocals and Samuels focused demeanor.
Their show at Rough Trade was their last in Brooklyn before heading out west on tour. Erik and Samuel are definitely green when it comes to working a crowd outside of playing and singing, but their inexperience and humility only shed a greater light on their haunting, ambient folk-melodies. The minute they began a new song, the audience fell silent. We were all keenly tuned in, together. For their last song Home, they jumped down from the stage and played in the middle of the crowd, encouraging us to participate however we saw fit - foot stomping or singing along.
When the house lights flipped on, it took the crowd a few moments to snap out of the blanket of stillness we'd just witnessed for the past hour. Bird Courage is magical, and I'm looking forward to watching them unfold.
