Isinglass (GB) Bay colt, born in 1890 By 1897 & 1880 Ascot Gold Cup winner Isonomy(who was a great-great-grandson of the great Birdcather), out of the Wenlock-mare Dead Lock. In 11 of 12 starts, he won, in his career, that lasted from 1892 until 1895. He was the best British two-year-old of 1892. In 1893, he went on to become the 6th winner of the English Triple Crown by winning the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, the Epsom Derby and the St. Leger Stakes at Doncaster. He was undefeated in his last two seasons, setting a world record for prize-money and gaining recognition from contemporary experts as one of the best horses seen in England up to that time. After he retired to stud, he was sent to Cheveley Park Stud near Newmarket for breeding duty, and sired three British Classic Race winners: 1000 Guineas and Oaks winner Cherry Lass, Oaks winner Glass Doll (Oaks), and the 2000 Guineas winner Louvois. His most influential son was Star Shoot who was Leading sire in North America on five occasions, siring horses such as the first US Triple Crown winner Sir Barton and Grey Lag. Isinglass also was very successful as a sire of broodmares, notably as the damsire of Prince Palatine. In 1912, he was posthumously the Leading broodmare sire in Great Britain & Ireland.
