Home ownership is weird...
I hope everyone’s Memorial Day weekend was great and and veterans or loved ones lost were well remembered! We had quiet the adventure here in our new home in Maryland. It’s funny how you think you’re crossing this major milestone in adulthood when you buy a home, but really what you’re getting is both a mortgage payment and the responsibility for fixing anything that may break! Or a bird infestation as it were...
Long story short: Friday I noticed while attempting to do laundry that the dryer was acting up and then giving an error code indicating the venting was clogged. Thinking it was likely just lint build-up I opened the access into the wall behind the dryer and out came a dead bird! Now if that had been all this wouldn’t have even been a blog post but of course the next horror was the chirping sound of baby birds that were now alone in a nest that I could not reach. Off I went to the attic because my strong but sensitive hubs is (apparently) afraid of birds... I took the duct work apart with a plastic bag covering so no one jumped on me and relocated the baby birds to a nearby bush. I now choose to believe that some other mommy bird decided to adopt them and I will not be looking in that bush for at least a week!
