Fitness Friday: getting back on the horse!
Pre-baby I was a runner...a slow one, but a runner nonetheless. I love the thrill of racing mostly. The adrenaline, the competition against yourself and the clock, the feeling of accomplishment of finishing a distance you set out to do and the community you become a part of both in prep for and at an event. But since baby I have run maybe a grand total of 6 times (including one very undertrained half marathon that I do not recommend). It was just hard to schedule as a nursing mom then it was my husband’s busy work season and I couldn’t find any races that allowed strollers...excuse excuse excuse.
So, now it’s time to get back to it. To pick a race, a start a plan, stay accountable and accomplish a fitness goal that is personal and specific to me. This is something that I have found hardest to balance since having Mason, not just “me time” but actually developing goals or targets that are just about me. I hope I’m not the only mom struggling with this! Anyway, so I know I want to do another half marathon, preferably Disney but I’ll explore other options and I know I want to break 2:30. (See, slow but hey, it laps the couch every day of the week!)
So if you have a favorite race, plan or tip for getting back on the horse after time away from the road, let me know!
