Queen and Bishop
"I wanted to be a bishop as a kid, but then I realized how annoying it would be, always moving diagonally..."
It was now Monday and Ezekiel was ready to tell everyone what he saw the day before. With Hero’s help, everyone gathered in the meeting room.
“Supernaturals. We have gathered today because our colleague Ezekiel has something he’d like to share with us all.”
Ezekiel took in a deep breath and explained everything. Sol was the first to make a comment. “Wasn’t she that Kaitlin girl’s best friend? She passed away at the night of the dance... I was talking to Chip, and he told me what happened.”
“That makes no sense! How could she have gotten those pills, if she lives in the upperclassmen dormitory?” What Matthew said made sense.
Saltee was quick to reject his theory. “They’re BEST FRIENDS. Best friends always share everything, even if they live in two different houses! What doesn’t make sense is how she got there if the cafe was closed!”
Bishop was growing tired of these people dying. “I just hope that none of us meet the end of or lives as quick as they did...”
The underclassmen were now all in class and ready for their first day.
“Hello, everyone! I’m going to be your teacher for a couple of days. My name is Miss Flores. This class is going to help with accepting who we are, as supernaturals. For our first activity, I would like for you to talk to the person across from you and tell them how you feel about your gifts, whether you enjoy them or hate them. If you have any questions feel free to ask!”
Sol was talking to Matthew about how much she enjoyed her gifts, but he didn’t seem too fond of his. “I don’t really care. I mean, sometimes being a vampire helps me with my writing because I don’t get tired that fast... It’s whatever.”
Bishop told Saltee all about his past and all she said to him was, “It’s so awesome! I love being a fairy.”
Reggie was partnered up with Ezekiel, another witch. They both were waiting for their true powers to be given to them, something they had in common. “I don’t like waiting.”
Bishop was going to head towards campus to get to class when he came across Reggie, silently weeping in the art room.
“Reggie, what’s happening? Don’t cry. Talk to me.” His voice was sounding so soothing and comforting, that he actually got Reggie to look at him.
“I’m.. so worthless...... Bishop, my whole family is pu-putting so much pressure.. I know I’ll never live up to their expectations.. Why should I even bother... It could all be over so quick... If I would just-”
Bishop cut him off before he said what he knew was about to be said. “Look at me, Reggie. Life is very hard believe me, I’ve been around long enough to know that. But you must keep going and don’t you ever give up. There is so much more to life than just having to do what others tell you to do, don’t listen to them.”
Reggie was now a bit more content and he thanked Bishop for helping him out.
“Thank you, Bishop. I’m going to go wash my face.. Can you wait for me so we can walk there together?”
“I’ll be waiting right by the entrance, champ.”
Meanwhile, at the night class’s dorms...
“No, Ezekiel. I’m not going to go to a dance after a witch has been murdered. What if it’s a witch hunter that’s killing withes? That means we’re next! Better safe than sorry. If you want to go, fine. But don’t be surprised if you never get to come back to the dorms.”
Ezekiel made a sad expression. “I really wanted to go, but you’re right. You know what we should do? We should have a small funeral for him, even if we don’t have his body. Just you and me, we’re the only witches in this dorm.”
“Sure, we can say some prayers for his soul. Let me grab a bible....”
Once they finished several other activities Miss Flores spoke to them about the dance.
“As you all know, the morning students are all human, so it is very important that they don’t know about us supernaturals in the night class. However, we do encourage you to become friends with the humans and be at peace. I will now read names of who will be able to attend the dance this Saturday. If your name is not called I will give an explanation shortly, here goes.”
“Starting with all the witches. Bishop, you are allowed to go if you can maintain your glamour form. Ezekiel and Reggie you are also eligible to attend. Lastly, Matthew. You are able to attend ONLY if you feel comfortable with humans. As for the rest of you, it would be alarming for humans to see you due to your supernatural features, I hope you all understand. Class is now dismissed, I will see you all tomorrow night! Behave!”
Officer Joy was already making his way out when Bishop ran to catch up to him.
“Officer, please wait! You.. You can’t just throw this down the drain! A student was MURDERED in school grounds and all you can say is that you have to ‘postpone’ this case? This makes no sense! You’re putting all of the other students at risk, day AND night students! Please, officer. Don’t do this for me, do it for Reggie Dixon. Don’t let his death become an example for others.”
“I am very sorry young man but we already did everything we could, we ran fingerprints, checked times with the staff, and nothing showed up. Everyone, according to the teachers here, was already in class. Reggie was the only one that hadn’t made it to class. With the amount of blood that was loss at the time he was found by your colleague Rei, we were able to find out that it had recently happened. It could have possibly been Rei Holloway, but why would he turn in a dead body if he were the killer? Don’t think we didn’t do anything, son. We did all we could within our powers. Now, please. I have other pressing matters to attend to.”
