I think the scariest thing about the "Bismuth did nothing wrong" crowd is that they completely forget the episode leading up to the Steven/Bismuth fight. They spent the whole day together, having fun. Steven showed her all sorts of human stuff. She even gave him good advice! They were friends. But as soon as Steven said "No, I don't want to use that weapon" she turned on him, accused him of being Rose, and tried to kill him. If you can not see that as a character flaw, may God help you.

I made a whole post about how SU crits should stop romanticizing Bismuth but it seems that’s not stopping anytime soon.

It’s sad when the episode brilliantly shows that there’s a blatant moral grey area in this whole war thing, plus showing that Bismuth went too far in her motives, SU crits choose to ignore everything except the parts they use to prove their worthless points.

Both her and Steven had good points, but it was Bismuth’s impulsiveness and extreme attitude that took it too far. Like I’ve said before, she’s flawed like everybody else in the show.

i find it funny that SU Crits say that the crewniverse woobified the diamonds, while 98% of diamond fans are well aware of their wrong ways whilst bismuth fans are busy covering up the fact she could ever be wrong, and therefore, they woobify her

ya know if they really wanted to make bismuth a "threat" that needed to be kept bubbled a while longer they could've just made her like...dangerously unsympathetic to humans. Like maybe she wanted to use a tactic against homeworld that would've killed a bunch of em or she wanted to start enlisting them in the crystal gems to basically function as infantry or something. It wouldn't have been perfect but it sure as hell would've been a lot less uncomfortable imo

Randomly thinking about Bismuth and it’s just wild that white people in the SU fandom lack all kinds of nuance into why people were upset at the handling of Bismuth’s narrative about The Rebellion.

also i never saw the bismuth episode so i didnt say much on it but. they could have made a better message if they had portrayed bismuth as wanting to shatter all homeworld gems and not just those in the army

i mean in same old world we presumably see her poof lapis, so they had a setup where she attacked first and asked questions later, and killed anybody on the battlefield even if they werent a threat at all, so why didnt they use that concept? 

like wanting to attack an oppressive government isnt bad, but attacking citizens who, despite being on their side (due to indoctrination and violence against deflectors), are not directly involved in the war, or against neutral parties, is totally different. even homeworld-loyal gems had limited rights under homeworld (peridot, for one).

if they wanted to vilify bismuth then show that her desire to attack homeworld went too far, that she was gunning for a total war. you dont have to make her mindlessly violent, but show that her anger is misplaced, because as it stands, her wanting to kill actual soldiers is justified. if she wanted to kill civilians then their ‘murder is bad’ moral wouldnt be so juvenile.

granted there’s still the issue of portraying a black coded character as violent and painting her desire for revolution as bad but if they wanted a plot like this then this is PROBABLY the best option besides not doing it at all
