TIL about the story of Bison Dele.
Bison Dele (born Brian Williams) played in the NBA from 1981-1999. At 6'11", Dele had played center for the Magic, Nuggets, Clippers, Bulls and Pistons. He was on the Bulls championship team in 1997 along with Michael Jordan.
In 1999, in the prime of his career, Dele suddenly retired and spent the next few years travelling around the world. On July 6, 2002, he embarked on a ocean voyage in his catamaran along with his girlfriend Serena Karlan, boat captain Bertrand Saldo, and his brother Miles Dabord (born Kevin Williams).
On July 8, 2002, Miles Dabord returned ashore alone in Tahiti and the other three have never been seen or heard from again. Of course suspicion fell on Miles, but on September 27, 2002, he died by suicide after taking an insulin overdose. The real story of what happened to his brother and the others died with him.
