It doesn't happen often, but when a dozen different variables all come together to make the perfect snowshoe conditions, it's the best feeling in the world.
Filmed on Geal Charn on 13th March, just three days before things started to get a bit weird, that day is now even more precious than it already was. Seems a lifetime ago!

Bitesize Ben - Snowshoeing East Lomond
After perhaps 8 or 9 inches of snow fell in the Lomond Hills, and with brilliant blue skies forecast the next day.....I set the alarm for 5am and headed out into the hills to make the most of it.

Bitesize Ben - A robin feeding from my hand
I've lost count of how many car park robins I've tried to entice onto my hand over the years. I've seen plenty of other folk do it but for some reason I've never been enticing enough. But yesterday I had a breakthrough moment and it made my day. A close encounter with wildlife is such a simple pleasure :)
A new bitesize video blog for you, filmed last week at the peak of the cotton grass here in the Lomond Hills :) I'm not sure why it's so relaxing being surrounded by those wee fluffballs. Is it something about the movement maybe? Dunno, but it's lovely!
Bitesize Ben - The verdict on Winter 2018/19....so far
Finally something new on the blog! Yep the snow has arrived....but given what's gone before I'm sure I can't be the only one who has been moping around wondering what on earth to do with himself this winter? One good thing has come of it though. I finally understand how the rest of the country feels in the darker months. It's not too late for this winter of course, cos certainly our winters are often tales of two halves. Anyone remember 2010/11? Fingers crossed!
