Chelle pops into the lamia bitty store with her Hanahaki bitties Boss and Beast sitting on her shoulders. “Hi Vex, I heard that you domes times take rescue bitties. I was wondering if there were any dog sized Biteberries looking for a good home? I have a friend that would absolutely treasure one but is a little shy to ask themselves”
*Vex smiles at you and waves, making sure to greet Boss and Beast the Hanahaki bitties as well. “Since adopters showed interest in them, we brought some Yanderetale-type rescue bitties into the shop to help them find homes. If you walk around for a bit, you should see them in no time. They are always looking for some attention.” You glance down and see her petting a Brassberry bitty who is laying on the desk, purring contentedly.
*You begin to wander around the shop. Your shy friend asked about a dog-sized Biteberry, so you’re looking for a larger bitty. He shouldn’t be hard to spot… and he isn’t. A dog-sized Biteberry is walking around the shop, gently headbutting visitors for attention. After being pushed away by one potential adopter, he looks around for the next victim of his affection and sees you.
*You can’t help smiling as he shuffles over and lightly bonks you with his head. Right now he’s adorable, but you know that once someone adopts him, he will become very attached and fiercely protective. You hope your shy friend can handle the little guy. You crouch down and ask him if he’d like to come home to meet your friend. “Threesome?” he asks innocently. Oh boy. You explain that your friend wants to adopt him but is too shy to come in themselves while your Hanahaki bitties splutter in outrage.
*The Biteberry follows you back to the front desk with a little spring in his step. Vex gives him a stern look. “You had better behave yourself,” she warns him, but he just smirks confidently. You begin to wonder if your friend actually wanted a Pure Bite, but this is what they asked for. The Biteberry seems sweet enough if a little bit dirty-minded. You take a deep breath and fill out the paperwork.
hey, i'm not sure if you remember me, but i was the corny-personality owner who adopted a chain awhile back? well, it seems like a little krait hitched along for the ride. he must've snuck into my hoodie pocket when i fell asleep. i recently found him sneaking about in my home, and the poor little guy hasn't stopped going on about this pygmy friend of his ever since.
*You’re glad that you found your stowaway Krait sneaking around the house. Now you can make his adoption official and help him find his long-lost Pygmy as well. You re-enter the shop with the Krait the same way you unintentionally left with him: in your pocket. He’s peeking out though, pointing you excitedly in the direction where his friend might be.
*You pass the front desk and head for the Pygmy nests in the center of the shop. The Pygmies aren’t in their nests, though; they are zooming around and chasing toys on make-believe hunts. The Krait scans the group of quick-moving blurs of iridescent blue, then shakes his head. You have no idea how he can tell that his friend isn’t among them, but you trust him to know.
*The Krait pats you to get your attention, then directs you towards the Krait play pools. You’re not sure why he wants to visit the Kraits, but you follow his directions. You actually think it might be a better idea to go to the front desk and ask about the Pygmy. The Krait is already making urgent chirps as you get close to the pools though, and you soon see why. A Pygmy is laying by the pools, gazing mournfully into the water. He lifts his head when he hears the chirps from your Krait.

*The Pygmy darts over and begins to zoom in circles around you, chirping up at the Krait who chirps down at him. Both of them are delighted to see each other again, and you couldn’t be happier. The Pygmy is moving too fast to be picked up, so you let him zoom with you to the front desk for paperwork. And there, sitting on the front desk, you see him. A Blindberry, hunched up as small as he get. As you fill out the papers for your lamias, you ask Vex about him.
* “He came in with some other bittybones, looking for a new home, but due to his inability to see, he’s extremely shy. He’s having a hard time being adopted because he doesn’t like to meet new people,” she explains. Proving her wrong, the Blindberry stands and shuffles slowly over to you. He snuffles your hand, and then hugs it. Your heart melts. “I’ll take him!”
*Shyly shuffles in the doors, my full sized chain following close behind with a box under one arm.* Hey! I dunno if you remember me! But I adopted Angel here a while back, and we made some flower crowns for the bitties! And flower bracelets for those on the larger side! *Smiles. Angel flops over onto the floor and spreads the accessories out so everyone can get the ones they want.* I was also told to ask about the sad little pure bite that needs a home, I have a special crown just for him!
*The flower crowns and bracelets are an instant hit at the shop. Mambas decorate themselves, and Papythons liven up their nests with the beautiful blossoms. Lieutenant Cherry and Belle the Commander make an appearance, sifting through the various crowns and bracelets to find the best ones for the Commander Gang’s nest. A Corny rolls out from underneath the anti-venom fridge, rolls through the crowns and bracelets until he is absolutely covered with flowers, then rolls back under the fridge to deliver the goodies to the other Cornies.
*Vex smiles when you ask about the Pure Bite. He was brought here because his owner was having financial troubles and thought it would be best to rehome him, and a bitty shop is a great place for a very small Pure Bite with a very big heart. It doesn’t take long for him to make an appearance either, running as fast as he can on his short little legs. He stumbles and falls, but leaps right back up to his feet to run to you for his flower crown.
*You carefully place the crown on top of the little Pure Bite’s head. He reaches up to touch one of the flowers, tears in his red eyes. “He really likes flowers. I think he would enjoy gardening,” whispers Vex. The Pure Bite reaches into his pocket, pulling out a slightly lint-covered chocolate, the last remnant from the presentation gift he gave to his first owner. He presents it to you.
*Angel saves you having to eat the questionable chocolate by accepting the gift on your behalf and popping it into his mouth. He realizes too late that the chocolate was not a chocolate at all but a well-decorated plastic prop. He swallows it anyway, and the Pure Bite does a little happy dance. You can’t help smiling at the adorable little guy. You ask Vex if he has a name.
*Vex’s smile widens. “Yes,” she says. “His name is Purr. It was originally a play on the word Pure from his bitty type.” Vex crouches down and gives the tiny bitty a gentle rub between the shoulder blades. He immediately lays flat on his tummy on the shop floor, purring like a muscle car motor. “I think it fits him perfectly.”
(This is a special adoption scenario for the Pure Bite desktop buddy. Other bittybones dolls are also available, and each purchase comes with an adoption scenario or drabble for that specific bitty.)
Need to Be Needed, Want to Be Wanted
Note: I went a wee bit (ok about 900 words) over the 1000 word maximum, but man, this story just wanted to be written. That’s why it’s under a cut.
She blended so well with the shadows that he almost didn’t see her in the inky gloom of her surroundings. The Horrortale Sans bitty, a Shears type, scavenged the alley behind the restaurant, searching for discarded foodstuffs or fresh prey, whichever he found first. She listened to him scurry about, silent, unable to see his movements due to her blindness but able to pinpoint his location nonetheless.
“There’s dinner scraps from the steakhouse in the middle dumpster. Some of it’s still warm,” the young woman offered helpfully without even turning her head in the bitty’s direction. He glared at her, suspicious that she might be trying to trap him.
Giving the human a wide berth, the Shears bitty circled the dumpsters and trash cans, sniffing here and poking there. The rats and raccoons had long since departed, having taken their share of the refuse earlier in the night. A tantalizing aroma wafted from the middle dumpster. The little skeleton scratched and scrabbled at the rusted metal, but he couldn’t gain access to the morsels inside.
adoption scenario please. I have over 10 different bitties now but I would like another one.
*Vex calls you to come down to the shop. A Critter Carrier with the Brassberry you ordered has just arrived, and she’s excited to get the Brassberry bitty into his new home as soon as possible. You show up to the shop in a matter of minutes, ready to meet your new little Brassy. You rush to the counter, open the Critter Carrier, and wait for him burst forth into the sunshine. He does not.
*The Brassy peers up at you from inside the Critter Carrier, sockets narrowed in suspicion. “Yer not gonna eat me, are ya?” he grumbles at you. You shake your head. “Not gonna use me as a heat toy?” You shake your head again.
*“Of course not!” you cry, shocked that he expected such treatment. “I take very good care of all of my bitties, and I love little Brassberry bitties and needed one to spoil!” At the world spoil, he finally emerges from his temporary home. He holds his arms up to you to be picked up, and when you do, he hugs and nuzzles your face. It looks like he’ll be a happy addition to your home.
*”So, uh, are any of yer other bitties hotties like you?” he asks, waggling his brows flirtatiously. Vex snorts and hands you a care pack for the Brassberry with a wound-cleaning kit and bandages and some snacks for the ride home.
*The Brassberry never looks back. A loving home with other bitties to befriend, boss around, or possibly hump is every Brassberry’s dream, and now his dream had come true.
May I adopt chain?
*You check your pocket and find a Chain bitty curled up inside. He looks very comfortable and appears to be enjoying your body heat. He blinks at you with his best sweet puppy dog eyes, hoping that you will keep him.
It seems a Chain bitty has adopted you.
