Hi. I'm 15. I've been wanting my first bjd since I was 11. I still don't have one. So expensive. I've recently been thinking of buying a recast, but my dream of posting my bjd and future creations for them are slowly fading because of all the hate I will get. I wish pro artists could understand that some people buy recasts because they don't and will not have enough $ for legits. I am depressed from all the bullying at my school and I just want a doll to comfort me. I may buy a recast.

Don’t give any bully the power to depress you, you are worth it, it’s your money, it’s your own life and you should do what makes you happy. All hatters and bullies will always find a way to put you down, if it’s nor recasts will be anything else. Enjoy your dolls and this hobby for yourself, not for hatters. I just got two new dolls in today, both recast from Luo. I'm so happy about them, but I'm also afraid to post anything because of anti-recast people. They are both sculpts I've wanted for YEARS, so of course I want to paint them and put photos up. Should I just brave the hate and do it?

Anon, you should not let others decide what you do with your money and how you enjoy life and hobbies based on fear of what they might do, think or say. This is a basic elemental rule that seems to be pretty obvious (even for antis) until we’re talking about dolls. Let’s put this in other context, for example:

If I (or anyone) told you what brand of designer bags or clothing you should buy (based on my need to feel special because I have something you can’t pay or can’t get anymore), what style, and even claim “you’re not dressed at all” if you didn’t do exactly what I told you to (antis tell recast owners that “they’re not a member of the community” or that “they don’t belong in the hobby”), most people would call me crazy (and not in a good way). If I told you “what to buy” and “what to eat” based on my views, or “what music you should hear”, wouldn’t you think what a little sad and petty person am I?, well, that’s antirecasts telling you “what doll to buy” or own, that’s their rules telling you (even if legit) what dolls are “on topic” or not, or as they want to be called now, “proartists” (even when they don’t give two cents about the artists and insult them whenever the artist they claim to protect say or do something they’re not agree with).

Of course, you should avoid anti (proartist) places and block (ignore) every user that gives you any trouble. Bottom line is, this dolls are yours, they’re not here to make “other people happy”, they’re here to make you happy, and you should do with them what you like without fear. Prorecast and Neutral communities are stronger and bigger than ever, for every insult there is a helping hand on our side. Hate that comes from people that doesn’t deserve our attention is hate that doesn’t deserve our attention. It’s just that simple.
