blÜ (OC)

Name: blÜ Age: Appears to be in early twenties, but much older. Height: Seven feet long with tail Species: Space Mermaid Appearance: blÜ’s hair is long and dark blue, reaching to where her fin begins down her lower back. Her eyes are a gradient of blue, starting with a darker around the edges and going lighter as they reach the center. She has no pupils or whites in her eyes. Rather than having eyebrows, she has two slits above her eyes that act as a secondary nose. Her skin is pale, and even translucent depending on how the light hits her. Her mouth has slits on both sides, and one running down the center of her chest, stopping at the bottom of the breastbone. This allows her skin to open apart, revealing rows of sharp teeth lining the inside of her skin that serve as her mouth for eating.

Her tail is 1 1/2 times as long as her upper body. It’s primary dark blue, with lighter reflective scales as accents. She has two large fins with tendrils at her hips, a row of tendril like fins going from the bottom of her spine to the end of her tail, and smaller fins half way down. Bioluminescence give off the appearance that she is glowing, and allow her to lure in prey.

Her fingers are longer than that of a human’s with webbing going up to the first knuckle.

~Abilities~

Air: To survive in space, her lungs are twice the size of an adult human’s. Because it takes less energy to propel herself through space, her heart rate slows to conserve energy. She can float aimlessly in space for several days if needed, until she finds a habitable planet or a ship.

Poison: The tendrils along her fins act the same as jellyfish tendrils, delivering a painful and paralysing poison. She uses this for her prey, as well as against an enemy to escape.

Siren song: blÜ produces a soft melody with hypnotizing capabilities. This tone can be altered to pierce eardrums, or calm down enemies.

Flight: Despite the lack of wings, blÜ is still able to achieve flight for a small amount of time. She uses this to project herself off a planet or ship.

Cold: From surviving in space, she is able to withstand extreme cold temperatures.

~Weaknesses~

Water: Although she is an excellent swimmer, she lacks gills and is therefore unable to survive underwater.

Heat: Extremes in heat will cause her to dehydrate and eventually die.

Naive: Despite her run ins with other beings and creatures, she is still very naive and curious. This worsens when she becomes desperate for food.

Death: If kept in captivity, she can lose the will to live, and will quickly pass away.

Personality: blÜ is very curious about new things. She approaches the universe with a childlike wonder. Like many mermaids, she also has a habit of collecting. Mainly containers, and has amassed many empty food take out containers. She if extremely proud of this.

When hunting, she becomes much more cold blooded. She’s completely carnivorous, and will eat anything made of meat that crosses her path. She becomes aggressive and doesn’t like to share since she’s never sure when the next meal will come.

She tries not to think about it, but she is very lonely. She can never remember a time when there was something else like her, and isn’t good at making friends. She doesn’t know where or what she came from, and only remembers being alone.
