Well, that's how it's going to go here!

So once more, hello! I'm so glad to be making this first post. It's really, really exciting to be able to see this project of mine move from the back-burner to reality. Thanks to Pillowfort for providing the platform!

So... let's get into it: what will be happening on this blog? Well...

Here, I hope to use my extensive academic background and research skills to provide insight into the things we all love: especially where Black and Black-coded characters are present. Through the lenses of manga, anime, graphic novels, and eventually, video games, I hope to create a space where academia -by and large- is much more accessible and fun to engage with because let's be honest: academia is often presented as beign rather lofty and inaccessible. Yet there's fans -tens of millions- who want to engage with academia work. It's just always behind paywalls, or written with so much jargon you've got a headache by the table of contents!

That's not what you're going to find here: there's no jargon to parse, and no pretensions. Knowledge should always be accessible, and content should always be presented in a way that can be easily grasped, digestsed, and -hopefully- transformed into new works and research that helps further a more communal academia.

I'm just one person, but perhaps this is a start, though certainly, there's been a lot of people who have come before me with the same ambitions.

It'll be a day or two before I make another post: I've got to sort out my Black History Month project, which I'm really, really excited about. I hope that I can bring some fresh energy to academia on Pillowfort, and maybe, inspire some new academics to grow in their pursuits.
