Ginny Weasley is awesome. If you don’t think so, stop watching the movies and go read the books. I still wish we had gotten more of her (and less epilogue) but there you go.

One of my favorite things to do, when drawing a portrait, is using the photo as a guideline not a rule. This is a mini self portrait and it's got my features in there somewhere, but just vaguely :) #selfportrait #digitalart #digitalpainting #digitalillustration #blackbirdink #crown
Fly by Night by Frances Hardinge
Continuing the list of my favorite female characters, meet Mosca Mye and Saracen. She is twelve years old and is such a wonderful character. If you are tired of all the stupid shit YA teens get up to, try this book instead. The writing is great, I love the language and the female lead is often snarky, angry and just awesome.
I have a lot more to say about this book, but I sort of spent the night finishing this illustration, so my mind is fuzzy. You guys, check out this book if only for the super angry and bad ass goose. But also for Mosca. I adore non timid and angry characters, be they male or female and Mosca is fucking brilliant. This is a duology and both books are a recommendation from me.
The Moorchild by Eloise McGraw

Thus begins my little project to illustrate my favorite female characters from all my favorite books. And since, I don’t discriminate at the genre I read, this will include children's books, middle grade, YA and so on.
I hear a lot about other peoples fist books that got them reading. Most mention Harry Potter or Twilight. Well, I’ve always been in love with books. Even before I could read them myself. And around fifth or sixth grade I was finally taken to our local library and there it was. A book jumped out at me and it was The Moorchild. My very first great love and it was about fair folk and changelings!
I think this is partly responsible for my internal world of fairies and the inspiration for Denizens! Attention!
Moql is fierce and lonely and wonderful. She has long been one of my fave female characters.

I hope to refine him some more before I paint him. Though, I find painting the best way to truly find the true face of a character.
Working through some personal issues. I use a lot of gaming metaphors in my daily life.
