Can’t believe I am doing this but I need to analyse this and point some things out some people brush over or twist around...
I am watching this as someone who doesn’t know much about the novel and has a neutral stance on the whole Gram/Black/Eugene triangle. I am taking it as it is without much expectations (I have some hopes but it’s not my story).
I don’t know about yall but Eugene does look like she’s considering Grams feelings. She has his doll on her bag now. Like she said she needs time, maybe she thought it over. She didn’t really say no to him the last time, she just said she needs some time alone after the breakup with Black.
And the dancing was pretty close till Black showed up.
Black sure doesn’t look happy about the whole thing but he has bigger problems. He’s not even mad. I mean he broke up with her, so she can be with whoever she wants. He literally told her to not waste her time on waiting for him. The fact that it’s his best friend might be a bit bitter... and the minimal tension between Gram and Black in this whole scene is suspicious.
It feels like he kind of leaves her to Gram, since he thinks he doesn’t come back alive. So she’s better with him (sounds familiar to the previous situation with Gram not butting in between Black and her dating, thinking she’s better with Black)
But Black obviously still loves Eugene. Otherwise he wouldn’t ask for her last hug before he goes on his mission.
I am not sure what Black means with “If you’re sure you can stand it.” when Gram demands to stay during the talk with Eugene. Is it because of Grams feelings for Eugene or because Black basically says goodbye forever and sounds super suic*dal? From Grams POV this talk can also sound like a final breakup but contradicts with the hug and kiss.
Friendly reminder that Gram doesn’t know what’s going. All he knows is Black pushed Eugene away the past months, mainly ignored both of them and didn’t care about her feelings AFTER Black contacted her again and gave her new hope just to leave her again. He doesn’t know it was White at this point.
Black looks lost and sad after Gram pushed him away when he tried to kiss Eugene. But he doesn’t look at any of them. This is the point where he starts feeling the twin connection.
Which is interesting, because it is BEFORE White drowns himself. But Their emotions are pretty much the same. Almost like they synchronized (and due to the tent scene we know they can connect due to emotions as well, not just from physical pain). They both feel lost, alone and ready to get harmed for the cause in that moment.
Unlike some people here say, Gram doesn’t just stand there when Black chokes, he tries to help him together with Eugene??
He even helps him up afterwards??
Tell me he doesn’t look worried and confused after Black says this to Eugene and runs off??
The next day Gram sees “him” when he comes to the gang together with Sean, looking fine, talking about actually being Blacks twin brother named White.... Gram doesn’t know that not all previous Black interactions were with White, that Black came back inbetween. He also had the hardest time to believe the whole twin-swap.
I agree that the twin reveal scene feels a bit disconnected and too lighthearted in relation to the rest of the episodes events. And that might be the main issue here. Maybe they tried to end the episode on light note instead of angst or it should have happened at a different point in the timeline. The scenes purpose was to show that they accept White and don’t have a grudge against him for lying all the time. But there is no way they will ignore Blacks absence and him being in danger the next episodes.
Regarding Grams sexuality, since I saw people calling him hetero... he lowkey flirts with White here and he highkey flirted with “Black” (White) in that one episode in his room... also this: (link)
(imo something like pansexual still makes more sense internationally, maybe some translation differences in Thai language/culture? Since the topic is sexuality and not identity but that seems to get mixed in some cases in Thai? SOGIE is basically just another acronym for a LGBTq movement including all variations of sexualities + identities)
That’s how I see it for now. I guess / hope we will get more puzzle pieces the next episodes 🤷♂️
