He was the only one getting off at this stop and he paused under the bus stop's roof as the bus left him there. He’d hoped he would see something, anything, to jog his memory, but nothing called out to him. He was only six the last time he’d been anywhere in the area. He barely remembered what the house looked like, let alone the surrounding area. He could remember the kitchen most of all, the time spent baking his with Mum, standing in the little kitchen, an apron tied around his waist. They were probably his favorite memories of being here, the little pleasant ones he had.
(Or Nick grows up with his Dad in Paris and when he gets kicked out, he runs away to Kent to find his mum and ends up finding Charlie along the way)

“How are you?” Nick scans Charlie's face. “Wanna make sure you’re okay.”
“Nick,” Charlie chides in that playful, bashful tone that Nick loves so much. “You’re the one who just had a panic attack. I’m totally fine.”
Nick’s entire body tenses. “What?”
“What?” Charlie looks at him nervously, probably feeling the way Nick had immediately tensed up. “What’s wrong? Did I say something? I’m sorry-”
“We banned the S word,” he says distractedly. “You- you said I had a…”
“Panic attack?” Charlie finishes, as if it’s obvious.
“Yeah.” Nick is aware that he sounds ridiculously freaked out, but he can’t exactly hide that. What on earth is Charlie talking about? “I- I didn’t have a panic attack, Char.”
Now it’s Charlie’s turn to look at him like he’s got three heads. “What? Yes, you did.”
“No, I didn’t,” he insists. “Trust me, that’s just- that just happens sometimes.”

The English countryside passed in a blur, as Nick’s head laid against the cool train window. He was barely focused on what was happening, eyes dropping closed every once in a while, the motion and sound of the train lulling him into sleep. He didn’t have a great night’s sleep to begin with, he rarely slept well unless he was with Charlie now.
As the scene out the window started to become more cityscape and familiar looking, Nick took out his mobile, checking his message with Charlie.
Nick: on the train home, miss you
No new message from Charlie greeted him, making him turn his mobile face down on the tray out in front of him.
