Black Poll Warbler. I remember this day well. I went to my migratory water drip during a massive Atlantic coastal storm. The barrier beaches were getting hit with just a little rain but the winds were strong. These over ocean migrants are usually in trouble if they encounter a storm during their flight south from about Maine, Nova Scotia and surrounding areas. When they depart from those regions they don’t plan on hitting land until the Caribbean sea islands or further. I believe the storm pushed several of these warblers onto the barrier beach that day. Notice their plumage is starkly different than the breeding plumage, a black and white bold pattern. This was a day to remember like most at the drip, since about 25-30 of these warblers were scouring around my water pans and poking at the meal worms. #warblersofinstagram #warblers #warblercrazy #warblermigration #blackpollwarbler #birdsofinstagram #wildbirdphotography #birdlovers #passerinesongbirds #wildbirds #migration #birdsofnorthamerica #songbirds #passerines #naturephotography #ornithology #northamericanphotography #birdphotography #natgeoyourshot #audubonsociety #bestbirdshots #yourbestbirdshot #feather_perfection #elite_worldwide_birds #capturebirds #planetbirds #best_birds_planet (at Fire Island , Long Island, NY) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHVg-vEA7ae/?igshid=1s0f8hjjtaq8m
