Anyone looking to break into the technology industry or learn more about it can do so by attending a free event held quarterly in Chicago. The freeĀ BlackInTechĀ event was created by entrepreneurĀ Thomas StovallĀ last March, who said anyone who attends the event will walk away with a blueprint of action steps needed to succeed. BlackInTech is a Chicago-based series of business amplification events that accelerate growth for people of color who are founders in (tech) start-ups, or looking to successfully advance a corporate career in technology, said Stovall. According to Stovall, a founder is someone who has a revenue generating (technology) business right now. And a starter is someone still in the idea stage and hasnāt made any money yet. At the event technology entrepreneurs share their industry experience and offer business tips about such things like breaking into the industry, how to attract investors and how to grow a technology company. A questions and answers session concludes the free event. The next BlackInTech event is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. April 13 at the Merchandise Mart Building. The events are hosted by technology-company 1871 at its Merchandise Mart headquarters, 222 W. Merchandise Plaza, on the 12th floor.
