I know all y’all are totally right about the benefits of sleep and dirt buuut I had to at least try bc stubborn. Surprisingly, I only had to send one email and they took care of everything? Rest is tempting but I also like really need to graduate before I’m 35 for Reasons.

This spread is for http://blake500.tumblr.com Thanks for the donation, sorry for the wait! On this sunny Sun Day, you’re getting the full Qabalistic Tree of Life Spread that I do. What I’m going to do is go through and briefly explain each card and it’s position on the Tree and then once I do that I’ll give you a summary/synopsis. Think of this spread as a sort of quantum map that you’re moving “through” but you are also simultaneously everywhere at once. For the sake of this specific experiment, think of this as a map. Where we’re starting the journey from is Kether, the monad, the first sign of creation. We’ll call this your hometown, since it is where you’re from originally. Here we have  XIII Death, Nun, Scorpio. Death is the best allegory we have for real fundamental change. Death is being in the process of changing from one form to another. I see Scorpio as the murky waters, which things are not clearly seen, Death is not known to those who haven’t died. Death is feared for the loss of control but when most people go, they get real peaceful and accepting. Death is avoided because of the loss of the current form that you’ve grown so comfortable with. Stagnation is a real killer but Death is a great refresher. Things might not be clear now but that’s ‘cause you’re right in the middle of some higher order change. You’ll come out the other side a new person or thing entirely. In Chokmah, which is like your freeway getting you out onto the road out of your hometown is VI The Lovers. These Lovers aren’t about romantic love as much as it is the ‘Love unites the divided.’  This is the ceremony part of the alchemical wedding or the announcement of the intention to dissolve duality. Coagula. All inverse and adverse elements of the card are brought together under the blessing of the Initiator who is giving the sign of the enterer (holy shit, I just realized that, weird). This is to say he is blessing your entering into this union of your shadow and conscious self.  You have some work to do on making a more unified you. There are issues that once brought together and balanced make more sense. Bring opposites or aspects of yourself you’re not familiar with/comfortable with together in your life to make a more complete whole. Set intention to do this, maybe even formally. In Binah, which is ruled by Saturn and for the sake of this reading we will call the first stop on your roadtrip. You haven’t really arrived anywhere but you’re stopping and getting a chance to repack your car in a more efficient way. Sitting in Binah is the Queen of Cups, the watery part of Water, total emotion and intuition. This Queen looks through her reflective eyes at the ripples on a pond at the reflection of the moon which reflects the Sun. She isn’t so much interested in looking directly at a thing as she is looking at the effects. The tides being ruled by the Moon was discovered by observation of the correlation of movements of both Lvna and the comings and going of the tides. Her animal is the Ibis, who on one leg intently stares at the surface of the water. This was perceived as meditation and contemplation by the wise people of Khemet and they attributed the ibis to Djehudi or Thoth the wisest of their pantheon. But like ibis you have to act when the fish swims by or you’ll starve. Do not look directly at a problem or situation you feel strongly about. Look for effects and causation not the point of impact. In Chesed which is ruled by Jupiter and again for the sake of this experiment we’ll say involves your influence and benevolence in your current trip is the 2 of Cups, Love. Like all the 2s the deuce of Water is building towards completion. This is the ever becomingness of love. Love never dies it is simply transformed like any other energy. You never stop loving someone/thing because you have “reached maximum love levels” shake hands and walk away. Astrologically, Venus in Cancer can be interpreted as nurturing your emotional growth. Build on what you’re feeling and don’t try to think about anything too concretely emotionally or intuitively. This is a building process so try not to focus on the final outcome but work with what you have now. Across the Tree in Geburah, which is Mars Town, where you find your drive and what you’re trying to accomplish/conquer is   the 8 of Wands, Swiftness. This is the idea that a huge fire can burn a city down but HARNESSED it can POWER a city. The idea here is of the atom harnessed not to destroy but to produce great and beneficial energy, like a power plant. The wands on the 8 have turned to electricity, the light a rainbow. Harness your actions into the most efficient and useful manner, energize (Sagittarius) your intellect (Mercury).  If you’re having trouble with what you’re trying to accomplish, look at it through a ”new lense” that splits the light and makes it more visible. In Tiphareth, the Sun and center of gravity holding all this in place, the heart pumping the blood through this, your heart is 0 The Fool, Aleph, Air.   This is mathematical zero or total possibility. This is the desire to create one’s self into a form, the logos or word spoken that jump started creation. The beginning of a journey of discovery.  Going outward from stasis to tangibility. Making a thing from no-thing Since you are nought, coming from no-thing into some-thing everything is discovery, for better or for worse. Just get up, get out, and do something! In Netzach, Venus town, where you have the realization about how this is going to change you as a person with a personality is XX The Aeon, Shin, Fire. Think about where you are now and how you go about doing things in general. Do you remember a time before this point in your life when you acted differently and didn’t have this kind of understanding of the world? The Aeon is a new understanding and thus a new way of acting in your life. Harpocrates giving the sign of silence has to do with the meditative process of accepting this new law of life. You must truly grasp the meaning of this change in order to act in the new “spirit of the age” if you will. You are being born anew through fire and blood, you are emerging from the egg in the background and coming forth. What you take away from this will be with you forever but one day will also be improved on and brought to a new level. In Mercury Town Hod-ville, where all the Universities are and everyone has real intellectual shit going on is the 6 of Disks, Success. This is receptivity (Lvna, the Moon) in the earthly labor and materializing zodiac sign of Taurus. That is to say, be receptive to working on material situations you want to see come to fruition.  Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty, you’re gunna have to work for this success. The hexagram of Earth is the above (concept) and below (thing or material/physical world) together representing basically the idea of materializing your Will in your life. On the Moon in Yesod, the receptive and reflective place that is alot about the feelings that you’re picking up from all this is the 10 of Disks, Wealth. This card is intelligence (Mercury) in fertile possibility (Virgo). This is the peak material situation, a good situation, a situation you really want to be in.  Put your smarts and your communication skills in the most fertile possibilities and cash in before things start to come down from this peak opportune time. Down here in Malkuth-istan, the everyday life mundane, waking up pooping, and going to work world is XVI The Tower (or War), Peh, Mars. This is “war is hell” but mostly for the losing side. The practical interpretation is something in your life that was built up and seemed really important is about to come down. This isn’t the end of the world or even the neighborhood, it’s just this ONE big thing. This is also not something of your doing per se but more of an “act of god” or an outside force. If the Tower is in the way of your progress, boom, easy does it. If that was something that you built and liked it might be a little harder. Things being stripped down to their foundations can be great if you want to build something better and not so easily destroyed. A thing might fall, but don’t go burning down the whole city just ‘cause this one built up thing is going away. So, in summary… There is a big change happening/on it’s way that will change the fundamental way you are. This dying of an old way will give you an opportunity to unite yourself to make a full self instead of segregated “selves” operating not in accordance with your Will. You need to be aware and focused on how the effects of actions, both yours and other, are effecting you. Do not focus on the actions themselves but how they’ve moved things in your world. Your influence to those around you right now should be one of a building flowing emotion that seeks no end game or finality. Love for love’s sake and just be in the feelings without needing to “use” them for something. Your actions should be honed and laser focused in your goals right now. You are going to have the energy to do it all if you utilize it well. Mirroring XII Death over the abyss of Daath is 0 The Fool. Which is to say that your heart and center in tredding new territory and has all of the options and newness of a tourist in a place they’ve seen, don’t have a map for, and don’t speak the language. You’ll figure it out at some point, just learn and enjoy the newness and the journey out. Your personal take away from all this is going to be the sharp awareness that your experience of being you is about to move to a new sort of understanding. Sit with it, don’t rush to conclusions, allow the form to settle before you go naming it. You need to be putting it out there to the Universe and yourself as often as possible that you’re setting up a strong material structure to ensure long term success. In your real world stuff it’s time to focus on long term financial and normal life stuff and not fearing the struggle and work this is pretty much all the time. And funny enough it’s time to start trying to take in money, lol. Seriously though, in the people, data, light, whatever you take in, make sure that it’s nourishing the growth you’re trying to have. And now for the regular world stuff. Things fall apart. Things are rebuilt. Some things are not. If it is not sustainable, it will always fall and that my friend is a thing we can do nothing about but improve on next time we build a thing. That is a good idea! I'd still rather torture myself at home, but laser might work better. (although, weird story, I had my face non-consensually lasered in highschool, and now I can't even tell, my upper lip and chin are super hair-dense. I think it's gotten better in the last ~15 yrs, though).

I've gotten pretty good at using a trimmer+guard, and it works pretty well (I can see my legs some!) But I kinda want my back tattoo to extend into areas which are currently just too forested to trim.

So Katy’s zine and all the pickling and soysahe making lately has got me thinking. I checked out the decades-old New Farm Vegetarian Cookbook from the science library, b/c that book is so old-school it contains lots of recipes for making tofu, soysage, etc totally from scratch on the cheap, and I think that’s so rad and kind of unusual—I got pretty pissed when I realized I could bootleg a nigh-perfect Gimme Lean replacement for...

So I'm thinking of putting together a ~serious business~ cookbook full of extra delicious and/or cheap recipes for stuff you would normally buy, like hot sauce, meat substitutes, pickles, tempeh, miso, mustard, bread, large-scale make-and-freeze/serve a ton of folks/FNB-ready recipes, all that good stuff. I've got a bunch of stuff I'd like to include, but I'd be equally excited about using it as a way to collect up the skills of all my lovely friends. And we could have a potluck/skillshare launch party! (prob. a ways into the summer, b/c finals +field school =see y'all in June). Who's in?
