It's only an enlarger, lots of folks still make prints in the darkroom, I used it a lot back in the 1980s and 90s at @transworldskate but hadn't used it since 2003. TWS closed their darkroom just like everyone else when Digital took over the world. They offered the darkroom to me even though I no longer worked there and I gladly obliged to take it. It was in storage for 10 years in my garage before I broke it out a year and a half ago and with @oceanfreshphoto set up a darkroom at @theartistodyssey. I printed a few prints and had a lot of time to think of the significance of this image machine. This Beseler 45 enlarger made some of the best skateboarding photos that ran in TWS and was operated by some of the best printers over 20 years, @todswank @tsherms Ray Potes, Heather Rose, Jonny Donhowe, Heather Yarian and Brendan Klein, sorry if I forgot anyone. I printed a last batch of prints over the weekend and then dismantled the darkroom and @blakejohnstonfilms Filmed the process, we'll post it in a few days. It's nothing big, just a little moment in my life, unimportant in the big picture. Hopefully it won't be too long before it's up in a new dark space and glowing again. Stay tuned.
