Every time one of those Blanche Appleton posts crosses my dash the first thing that invariably pops into my head is “wait, the fake Touhou character that Toby Fox made up?”, and even though I know that’s wrong, the mental image sticks with me.

It’s strange how insanely brushed away this is, that OP of the popular soy sauce “ mysterious disappearance of miss appleton ” post (and close mutuals with a certain specific popular occult blogger) is a genuine zoophile.
Edit: they have changed their handle to caputvulpinum
I don’t see why there’s any point in ignoring this fact about her? This is insanely uncomfortable, so concerning, with somebody that big of a platform.
I don’t think there should be any excuses, and I won’t accept any. Any excuses made for this, is completely idiotic. Most likely her mutuals either do not know, excuses it, defends it, or pretends to be ignorant to this. (I won't accuse specific ones of the latter, but what what else could it be, besides the benefit of the doubt, which is pure ignorance)
TW: further mentions of zoophilia under this line-
I don’t know if this is just because I’m engaging in tumblr trends more but since the twitter meltdown I feel like there’s been a shift in discourse again.
Like a lot of the stuff with this soy sauce conspiracy had got super fucking hostile. I’m sure OP is getting a deluge of shit and the racism mudslinging is fucked up but also some of his posts are taking on that vibe of ‘I’m right and idgaf what you’ll say about it’. And like half the posts in opposition to his theory is the same attitude. Honestly it just feels super icky and the same kind of discourse I kinda thought we’d moved away from and grown out of a bit?
The thing is I’m fascinated in this story and I want to give time and space for OP to research and find their sources, but I also understand some of the criticism (the original post was a smidge hyperbolic but are we gonna pretend like that wasn’t the draw of it?), I just hate the bickering that’s happening around it.
And I don’t think this is exclusive to this conversation, I’ve seen it more and more over the last few weeks and it just makes me uncomfortable. There is nuance, things are in shades of grey, and no one on this website is talking formally or professionally. Hyperbole is a narrative tool and this is a narrative format. This is entertainment, people are doing this for fun or to socialise, 99% of the time it’s not that fucking deep!!
We have got to stop assuming the worst intentions for every action!! We’ve got to stop acting like every post is a direct attack, and we’ve got to learn to be kind to ourselves and to the people we’re sharing this space with ffs
can someone explain the Blanche Appleton thing like. Short version. I don’t have the attention span for all that
are you invested the post-ww2 soy sauce / blanche appleton thing? please read this tweet thread by an actual farm auditor and crop scientist, and the rest on mastodon (link lower in post)
