Light Sketches
I love the scanner and am very thankful and lucky to have one now, but dislike that it can make some things nearly invisible! Some art looks better as just sketches to me, or they're fragile, such as tha Tarzan piece, and I don't want to go over them with ink, but sometimes this issue forces me to do so.

🧼This is Zaraki’s little “Fast Facts” from his profile in Seireitei Communications AKA Colorful Bleach, the only book I’ve ever read in the entire world. It’s talking about how like:
Zaraki sweats a lot, so he bathes and washes his hair every day.
He can spike his hair like that purely through use of soap (the man has a scalp of steel, because I assume this means he leaves it in).
One time when they were at a bathhouse together Sasakibe recommended a “treatment,” but when Zaraki tried it it made his hair all smooth and this was a DISTRESSING EXPERIENCE so now he only uses soap and also hates Sasakibe (but only a bit??).
There’s so much to unpack here:
This story got printed??? Who got this intel?? Hisagi, I assume, because I assume that anything weird in the SC comes from Hisagi himself, desperately trying to fill pages and keep content uniform. Two pages dedicated to 11th Division and a full paragraph goes into this soap story. XD Zaraki seems like the kind of dude who would be perfectly happy having full conversations about each others’ bathing routines, so I doubt he minds, but I wonder if he ever wonders why so many people suddenly want to talk to him about baths, since obviously he does not actually read the SC and is probably unaware this got published.
So like, did Sasakibe and Zaraki go to the baths together or did they just happen to be there at the same time? Was it the 1st Division baths? I assume so, since why would Sasakibe go anywhere else? And Zaraki was there because... he was lost? Because he’s a man of fine taste? I imagine the 1st Division bathhouse like the bathhouse from Spirited Away, so let’s say the latter.
But Sasakibe is like bruh, half the point of this bathhouse is the fancy ointments and concoctions, you gotta try ‘em (even though Zaraki is already pulling out his like, crusty bar soap in a Ziploc that he carries around on his person all the time.
I assume the average Gotei 13 member uses public baths 100% of the time, though high-ranking officers likely have their own baths, since they have their own quarters. But I headcanon that plumbing etc. is highly variable across divisions so maybe for some it’s less of a PITA to just go to bathhouse--but this depends on how nice the nearest one is.
Hisagi specifically notes that 1st’s barracks are near a bathhouse, which I take to mean that’s not necessarily the case for others (and also to mean that 1) 1st’s bathhouse is nice and worth remarking upon, and 2) Hisagi thinks this is the most important information to know about 1st).
That Zaraki took a recommendation from Sasakibe at all makes me feel like they know each other at least a little bit (particularly given that not many seem to know anything about Sasakibe, period). I like the idea that they are bathhouse bros and speak quite frequently in the baths, even though they do not interact beyond them. After the hair fiasco Zaraki only hated Sasakibe a BIT, so surely there’s gotta be more there right??
