reIMagined Plot Ideas Part 01
I first wanna say that not everthing is reimagined. Just changes that I felt was needed. I want to be done with this sooo bad XD...and I am tired, its almost 3am for me and yet I can't fall asleep.
The Substitute Shinigami Arc
Kubo-canon: Generally fine
There was a lot of timeline gaps, especially between Don Kanonji and Uryu’s debuts, so I switched things up a bit.
For one, the order of things are switched: Kanonji’s debut happened before Memories in the Rain.
Tone wise, it’s weird to go from a serious mini-arc like MitR to Don Kanonji, a rather goofy character, like Ichigo didn’t have a freakin’ breakdown over what really happened to Masaki that rainy night.
Uryu’s debut happens not long after Memories in the Rain (maybe a few days later) and this was honestly a major turning point, narratively, before the Soul Society arc.
The fight with the Gillian is different because Uryu and Ichigo are successfully able to Soul Dock thanks to an early version of Uryu’s non-Schrifted powers. It causes a spiritual loop between Uryu and Ichigo that boosts their powers, but the loop keeps happening even after they grievously wounded the Gillian and it retreated. Urahara is able to stop the loop.
With some added weeks of nothing between Uryu’s debut and Rukia’s arrest, this timestamp could be used to grow the Ichigo-Rukia-Uryu dynamic as the Trio and give Chad and Orihime some more time to be used of their powers.
The Soul Society Arc
Kubo canon: Generally fine
Chad should’ve gotten another fight before Shunsui, that fighting being against Shuhei
Rukia and Byakuya were better as half-siblings
Renji gives Rukia an actual apology. I imagine it being a little clunky, despite Renji probably practicing it, but the sentiment would be evident.
The Noble Houses should’ve been shown around here in a meeting in regards to the assassination of Central 46.
Of the current five Noble Houses and their current heads: Byakuya of the Kuchiki Clan, Yuushiro of the Shihouin Clan, Tokinada of the Tsunayashiro Clan, Meigui of the Hua Clan (OC), and Kazumi of the Reiwa Clan (OC).
The Reiwa Clan used to be lesser nobility who served the Shiba Clan before they lost their nobility and the Reiwa Clan took the Shiba Clan’s place.
The Shinenju Arc (Memories of Nobody)
Takes place the last week of summer vacation
The Dark Ones are uninvolved in this
Rukia is also uninvolved, as she is still recovering
There is no end-of-the-world threat.
What can make Blanks dangerous is that they feed on memories due to their lack of memory. Sorta similar to the Hollows’ reason for feeding on souls.
Worst case scenario, they can merge together to become a bigger Blank.
So, them appearing in the Living World because of the Shinenju makes it more important to send the Shinenju back to the Valley of Screams.
Ichigo, Uryū, Orihime, and Chad are tasked by Urahara to keep an eye out for the Shinenju so that he and Tessai can send it back to the Valley of Screams so the Blanks can also leave.

What clues that Senna is a Sheninju is the fact that her memories are contradictory memories due to her nature as the Shinenju.
Her ‘core memory’ is that she is a Shinigami (the owner of Mirokumaru) who was sent to the Living World to hunt for a Hollow. The problem is that she doesn’t quite remember what the Hollow was and every Hollow she encounters is the Hollow she’s hunting. After she kills the Hollow, her hunt ‘resets’.
Of course, Ichigo would be slow on the uptake (until he sees her ‘resetting’) while it’s Uryū who was quick to realize something was off with her. This would cause a rift between them, with Ichigo equating Uryū’s distrust of Senna to his dislike of Shinigami. Plus, Ichigo missed having Rukia around and sorta latched onto Senna without realizing it.
Things come to a head when Ichigo has to tell Senna that she was never real. In an effort to prove that not only is she a Shinigami, but also a real person, she uses Mirokumaru to open the ‘Senkaimon’. A crimson colored one. She would then drag Ichigo with her through, leaving the others to face off the hostile Blanks. Even Uryū, though he has to rely on his Gintōs.
It’s in the Valley of Screams where Senna finally realizes that she isn’t ‘Senna’, but the Shinenju they were looking for. Despite her identity crisis, she goes with Ichigo to return to the Living World and help the others. Senna would use all of her strength to defeat the giant Blank, which leaves her weak. Because of her actions, she starts to disappear. Ichigo promises her that he will prove that she existed.
Over the next few days, Senna gets weaker, close to disappearing. Ichigo, with Uryū’s help, manages to find Senna’s resting place and takes her there. She would finally vanish, like in the movie.
Ichigo would feel distraught over this, not seeing the point when they would lose memory of her. Uryū gives him assurance that the bond he had with Senna still mattered, since it’s likely that the Shinenju would still carry the memories even if everyone else would forget Senna.
Ichigo apologizes to Uryū, despite no longer remembering the reason.
Summer vacation is ending and Keigo wants to go to the beach at the lake just outside of Karakura Town. Apparently, Kon in Ichigo’s body had agreed to come along because Keigo brought up the possibility of meeting hot babes, much to Ichigo’s chagrin. So, Ichigo and Chad went with Keigo and Mizuiro to the lake.
They would soon be joined by Tatsuki, Orihime, and their friends. Uryū had tagged along because Orihime wanted him to relax too, even if it meant Uryū was just going to stay under an umbrella and read a book.
Then, surprise! Rukia and Renji arrive! Along with Byakuya, Ukitake, Rangiku, and Unohana! They were able to take leave (thanks to Ukitake and Unohana) for some relaxation, what with the stressors of the past events and Aizen still on the loose.
During a private conversation, Rukia does learn about the Shinenju incident from Ichigo. She feels bad that she wasn’t able to help, but Ichigo told her it was fine and that she needed to focus on her own wellbeing.
And, of course, the girls Orihime is friends with tries to encourage her to spend time with Ichigo and it might be an early sign of her jealousy coming in at the sight of Ichigo and Rukia spending time together.
Beach related shenanigans and all that. Keigo trying to oogle at the girls…and probably reprimanded by Byakuya. Sandcastle contests with Ichigo and Renji making snide comments at each other. Ukitake enjoyed the weather as much as he could, though spent most of the time under the large umbrella, next to Uryū…which is an interesting interaction due to the pair not meshing well with heat (Uryū with his hypotension and Ukitake with his illness). Unohana is with them just to make sure neither passes out…and is curious of Uryū’s current condition (his loss of powers and the damage done to him).
At the end of the day, Rukia and Renji do reveal that they will be stationed at Karakura Town until further notice because of the Aizen situation.
The Bounts Arc
Bounts were not made from Shinigami experiments, but rather Quincies who wanted to expand their numbers via a forbidden ritual on a group of spiritually aware humans.
Threat remains in the Living World
Since Uryū will be given a stronger focus, much about himself is put into light.
Seeing how he couldn’t be of use to the others due to his powerlessness. Not to mention his own health issues (me wanting his hypotension to be slightly more prominent) being caused by his lack of powers. His overall mental health also takes a nose dive as his power loss also meant that he could no longer uphold the promises he made when he decided to become a Quincy. Promises to his grandfather, his mother, and all the Quincies that worked and lived at the Ishida Estate (adults and their children) who died of that ‘illness’ all those years ago.
Yeah. Poor kid, has survivor’s guilt in spades.
Not to mention that Ichigo wanted him to stay out of the fight as much as he could…
And now…unable to defend himself properly, he felt like a burden to his friends.
So, when the Bounts do approach him and claim they could revive his powers, he feels compelled…obligated if it meant he could fight again…to be of use again…
But, Uryū refused the offer, sensing that something was off.
Unfortunately, the Bounts, especially Jin Kariya, won’t take no for an answer…
Ryūken has more presence here, though he would rather not be involved in the conflict. It’s only when Uryū is in danger that he would act.
Around this time, Ichigo’s Hollow side is starting to emerge.
With the Bount issue raising, Rukia sent a request for more backup to help with both fighting the Bounts and protecting Uryū. Ukitake was able to send some men, but only a handful since they were still on high alert. Most of them were from the 13th Division, but Rangiku and Byakuya also came along.
I’m keeping the plot point that a Shinigami has sided with the Bounts. Not exactly Maki Ichinose, but maybe a Shinigami with similar powers. And that Shinigami is among the ones sent to help. And his reasoning to side with the Bounts is…rather petty. As a Shinigami of the 13th Division, he was the one who was stationed in Karakura Town before Rukia. He was slacking off on his duty, feeling that he could do whatever he wanted. Uryū, who was just a preteen, saw this and it only soured his views of the Shinigami.
When he learns that among the Ryoka was Uryū, the Shinigami wanted to watch the boy be executed. Imagine his disappointment when that never happened. Imagine how infuriated he was when the Quincy was set free. He even planned to confront him, but would always miss him.
When the opportunity presented itself, the Shinigami told the Bounts of a Quincy they could use for their goals in Karakura Town.
And later, when everyone was in place, he was able to take Uryū away and bring him to Kariya.
He does have a partner in crime who also hated Uryū: Jirobo Ikkanzaka.
Needless to say…Jidanbo ain’t too happy with his brother’s actions when he gets told.
The Bounts were able to procure a curious ‘machine’ of sorts, a Quincy Artefact.
Either Kariya or Utagawa would strap Uryū to the machine to force reishi into his body, in the hopes that it could revive Uryū’s powers so he could be of use to them.
Cue Ichigo and the others diving into save Uryū, getting him out of the machine.
Unfortunately, the machine had forced too much reishi into Uryū’s body and without a means to ‘vent it out’, Uryū undergoes a transformation. Pulsing reishi veins and cracks visible under his skin, his irises shifting like the inside of a kaleidoscope, and deformed wings of reishi manifested from his back.
This is the form of a Gefallen (Fallen), a Quincy turned slave to the reishi around them.
After the initial fight, Ichigo’s Hollow emerges and fights Uryū. Ichigo does eventually manage to remove the mask in time before he could hurt Uryū.
It wouldn’t be until Uryū is shot by Ryūken that the transformation is reversed. This has also restored Uryū’s powers, as his body and mind were at their limit. Ryūken pretty much used the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone: Reverse the Gefallen transformation and restore his son’s powers.
Whether or not the effects of his Gefallen state remains is up in the air.
Not wanting to back down, Kariya would then hook himself to the machine to become a ‘true’ Quincy. With the power boost, he fights not just against Byakuya, but also Isshin and Yoruichi.
In the end, Kariya is killed.
After things calm down, Ichigo sees his father as a Shinigami and, with Rangiku being present, reveals that Isshin was her captain before Toshiro. So, Isshin does tell Ichigo a bit about himself, the Shiba Clan and how he met Masaki. Of course, he’ll still leave out a lot of stuff…such as the whole White Incident. He’d probably give a goofy version of the story…and Ryūken would resist the urge to hit him.
The Arrancar Arrival Arc
Kubo-canon: ...Eh...it could’ve been worse.
All parties undergoes training in case of other threats
Nel and her brothers accidentally appear in the Living World
When the initial invasion happens, a small group of Shinigami is sent to help out
I actually want Orihime to still pick Ichigo to be the last person she spoke to since this would be integral to her much needed character development
Since Nel is an Arrancar, she can create a Garganta and Urahara isn’t involved
The Hueco Mundo Arc
Kubo-canon: A mess
The second half of the arc (Fake Karakura Town) does not happen here. That gets pushed to the summer of next year
This version of the Hueco Mundo Arc is solely a rescue mission
The group still ventured into the Menos Forest and meet Ashido
The group doesn’t initially split upon entering Las Noches but it still happens because of Szayelaporro manipulating the corridors.
Kenpachi, Byakuya, and Mayuri arrive to get them out.
I actually want Nnoitra being left alive, since Kenpachi would deem him weak and won't give him the satisfaction of death
Yeah, this arc should really mess up the kids mentally
After the whole thing, it’s revealed that Orihime’s powers apparently doesn’t work on Quincies and is unable to restore Uryu’s arm and he has to get a prosthetic
She does actually learn from this, as well as what happened in Hueco Mundo, realizing that it was her obsessions that got the best of her and strive to become a better person.
Canon reMix, Orihime ends her obsession (and subsequently her crush/'love' of Ichigo), however, for the IchiHime shippers (who actually cared about the characters) have at thee.
