“Most things,”Garak explained, hiding the small vial of poison on him, “areillegal here.”
“This goes beyondyour job description as a tailor,” Sisko says softly.
“A man can have asmany or as few jobs as he pleases, Captain,” Garak says.
“I wish you luck.This is a very important dinner. I would hate for it to be ruinedwith, say, an assassination.”
“I don’t needluck,” Garak says, already running the plan through in his mind.“If all goes well, I’ll be at your quarters at seventeen-thirty.”
Sisko pulls Garak infor a kiss. Just because the Cardassian doesn’t believe in luckdoesn’t mean Sisko has to give up hope.
It gets easier,Sisko notes, to eat dinner knowing that there’s blood on both theirhands.
“This wine isexcellently paired, I must say” Garak says.
“I never took youfor a food snob, Garak.”
Garak hums, lookingup at Sisko. He realizes just how blue Garak’s eyes are, apiercing, icy colour.
