#bleeeerg #so I'm doing a hopefully final replot of part of this novel right #and first of all #I GOT RID OF THE HORRID MCGUFFIN OF NAMELESS ANNOYANCE #I AM SO CLEVER #anyway #there are some minor character lesbians #and having one of them die is like... a really efficient way to signal several different setting and characterization things #and it's not like many many many characters don't die in this story #but the lesbians aren't INTEGRAL to the plot I GUESS #and the replot changes the impact of some other deaths so it's not like central-plot-mood necessary for them to go anymore either #so I coooould rewrite that #but like #it's a REALLY good signal/worldbuilding bit :/#part of which involves funeral rites and widowhood both of which become real central to the main plot later so like #they do need to feel like authentic parts of the world beforehand imo #and like I could just kill the one woman's husband that'd introduce those concepts OK #but that would leave out how a third character reacts which is the first hint about HIS queerness and bleeeh #I will probably keep it and say nyeh sorry folks #but maybe I can find some other good way to relate that third character to these two friends of his and go with the just-husband route...#but trust me the scene as-is is just so compact and effective #okay tagramble complete
