How many sandwiches could one sandwich boy feasibly eat in a singular mealtime

This number may also be translated into slices and/or loaves of bread

If we’re defining “mealtime” as a definite amount of time dedicated to having a meal, in this case a meal comprised of sandwiches, we would first have to decide how much time would be allocated for this meal of sandwiches. Taking into consideration social norms and my own personal experiences with scheduled mealtimes, I would consider half an hour (30 minutes, 1,800 seconds) to be an appropriate approximation of the time allocated for the meal of sandwiches. With this definition established, we can move on to define another keyword within the posed question, that word being “feasibly.” “Feasibly” is the adverb form of the word “feasible,” an adjective referring to the capability of something (in this case, sandwich eating) to be done or carried out [1]. In addition to this definition, it should be noted that the word “feasibly” has a connotation of relative ease as opposed to a word such as “possibly,” which has no such connotation. Taking this specific word choice into consideration, the question is not asking how many sandwiches could one sandwich boy possibly eat in a single mealtime, a question which denotes a degree of concerted effort on the sandwich boy’s part, but how many sandwiches could he (sandwich boy) feasibly eat under atypical but not outlandish circumstances (i.e. if he was especially hungry but not if he were participating in a sandwich eating contest).

With all this in mind in addition to the fact that I have clearly committed to this bit, all we need to do is a simple equation. Sandwich boy can eat X amount of sandwiches within 30 minutes (1,800 seconds). Based on some quick approximations and with rounding up for simplicity’s sake, I believe this sandwich boy is able to consume, on average, one quarter (1/4) of a sandwich every 45 seconds; this accounts for biting, chewing, swallowing, and for necessary breaks for sips of water or alternate beverages. This means that sandwich boy consumes one sandwich every 180 seconds (3 minutes). Thirty (minutes) divided by 3 is 10. Therefore, sandwich boy can feasibly eat 10 sandwiches in a singular mealtime. That is equal to 20 slices of bread and approximately 1 loaf of bread.

I’ve seen a trans hunter (FTM) head canon, and I want to know what the almighty Cursed thinks about it? Here is some theories fans have made around the headcanon incase you don’t know:

Caleb was trans, he wore trousers when he grew up, and due to the Era in which he did, people referred to him as a male, including Philip. (Though Philip knew Caleb was not a biological male)

When hunter was created, he was a female, and at some point found out he was trans and transitioned. Some people also head canon that Philip was trans too since he didn’t really ‘fit in’ in his home town. I personally like the head canon, and I think it could be possible (I know it isn’t canon) if you take into account his voice and his slight curve on his chest.

I wanted to know your opinion on it :]

Transmasc Hunter is one of my fave headcanons! He is so trans to me. If you look through some of my art it's pretty obvious haha I show him wearing a binder every chance I get.

I have a few ideas re: the logistics of being trans and a grimwalkers, and I don't have any really solid headcanons on the specifics. But my thoughts are generally that the sex of a grimwalker isn't necessarily determined by the sex of the ortet (or could also be influenced by the sex of other creatures that are used in the making of grimwalkers), so Belos couldn't reliably control the finer details of biology.

So Hunter comes out of the mud with "the wrong bits" and Belos is like "well I don't have enough ingredients to queasy-bake-oven a new one so let's see how boy this one turns out." And Hunter turns out very boy. He has to deal with puberty stuff on his own at first(Belos doesn't know shit about puberty) but eventually he acquires HRT potions and things improve dysphoria-wise after that. He does not practice safe binding until after Labyrinth Runners which creates a lot of issues that he thinks are normal until someone else is like "dude wtf???"

I think that post-canon, he would do a lot more gender exploration and would consider himself non-binary or otherwise gender queer in some way.

Aside from the specifics and all that, Hunter is just so trans coded in terms of his story arc. For me, there's a whole metaphor in there about roles and identity and self-discovery etc. that resonates with me a lot. He doesn't have to be trans for his story to feel like a trans story. But also in my heart he is trans <3

Side note: The text of Finding Palismen never makes explicit statements about whether Hunter is cis or trans. There are a number of reasons for this that I won't get into but there are reasons and as of now I plan on keeping it ambiguous.

I know there wasn’t really time for a little plot point like this but I do always wish we got some sort if scene of Hunter grieving/being messed up over Belos’ death. Like yeah Belos was horrible and hurt him and his friends (and others) but Belos was basically his father, he was all he knew for 99% of his life so even if he’s aware of that abuse now, those feelings don’t just go away.

kind of like how at the end of Tangled when mother Gothel falls out the window and Rapunzel reaches out for her, like yeah she knows that she was kidnapped, abused and manipulated by this woman but that doesn’t erase the years of connection (be it toxic or otherwise) that formed. I just wish we had gotten a small moment like that with Hunter I feel like it would’ve been very real.

Agrees! This is a huge reason why I originally started writing Finding Palismen. The complex grief of losing his abuser who was also horrible to other people and who was also Hunter’s only family, the only person in his life, functionally his father. There’s so much to think about it. I have so many emotions about it.

I think the closest we get in canon is this moment in King’s Tide right after the Collector curb-stomps Belos, and it’s largely a fear reaction and he’s also in excruciating physical pain and there’s just a lot going on in that moment. He hardly speaks for the rest of the episode and is clearly in shock. I could talk forever about Hunter’s arc in King’s Tide.

I wonder if, in Thanks To Them, Hunter was in some way relieved that Belos wasn’t dead. That relief would obviously have been eclipsed by overwhelming fear and dread, but not non-existent. I wonder if he thought about Belos while his friends were drawing pictures of their dads.

In terms of Finding Palismen, Hunter’s grief for both Flapjack and Belos isn’t just a major theme; it’s the reason the story exists. The base conflict is Hunter’s refusal to feel his emotions and be honest with himself. He feels guilty and deeply ashamed for having any strong emotions about Belos.

Acknowledging abuse doesn’t simplify grief. In a lot of ways, it complicates it further. Hunter’s whole life got turned upside down and then aggressively shaken like a carton of oat milk in the hands of a stressed barista (okay that metaphor kinda got away from me but you get the point).

The Tangled parallel is so real. I think a lot about how Hunter would react to watching certain movies or tv shows, and the idea of him watching Tangled was a fucking gut punch. The “omg that’s just like me!” to “oh shit that’s just like me” pipeline. That moment in particular would be brutal.

if Hunter is suffering and having a bad time with Belos dead, how much worse would be for him if Philip was locked forever after being defeated?

I have been thinking about this all day and I have So Much to say. I think I could genuinely write a lengthy one-shot based on this premise but for now I'll do a brief overview of how I think this would go.

I think it would add a new layer of anxiety, the knowledge that Belos is physically, literally alive and still exists in the world. Even if he's powerless, Philip Wittebane is certainly capable of manipulating and abusing people without magic. Hunter knows this. No matter how securely Belos would be locked up, Hunter would be in fear of a possible escape--if he could get out of being smooshed to goo by the Collector, would it actually be that improbable for him to escape imprisonment?

Yeah. The anxiety is what would worsen the most in this scenario. Horrifying nightmares. Unsettling dreams. Paranoia in crowds and public places (all old white men look the same). Imagined confrontations in the shower, in the mirror. Panic attacks. Grief he has no idea what to do with. Guilt he can't shake.

There are a few ways a "reunion" could go, depending on the timeline and Hunter's mental state. A confrontation or conversation could be cathartic, could provide a sense of closure. Or it could do nothing but trigger Hunter into a PTSD episode that takes weeks (or even longer) to come out of.

Much to angst about. Thank you very much for this ask!

Eda’s POV from Finding Palismen chapter 77 (no real spoilers or needed context)

Eda watched Raine’s eyes flick back and forth across the newspaper. She knew she couldn’t trust herself to read it, not yet. She had already yelled on the crow with everyone at the News who would listen to no effect, meanwhile her suggestion of even mild arson had been rejected by the others multiple times. Allowing Raine to read the article first was sensible, something that couldn’t be said about any other factor in this situation.

Raine covered their mouth with one hand, gripped the paper tight in the other. Slowly, they set it aside, removing their glasses and taking deep heavy breaths.

“Well?” Eda prompted, but she wasn’t sure what to ask.

The bard didn’t respond, their hand fastened tight to their mouth, their eyes fixed on some spot in front of them.

“…Rainestorm?”

Raine’s gaze moved to meet Eda’s. Their eyes burned with silent fury.

“It’s that bad, huh?” Eda forced a chuckle.

Still, Raine said nothing.

do you think young Belos (kid belos) was good or bad? Random question but I was thinking about that, because I drew a picture of kid pip once and someone comment like "no, I don't think he was good and innocent when he was a kid. I think he was always bad". Just curious about your take hahaha since I think I've never saw someone so much evil as your Belos version honestly

Fascinating question!

First of all, I don’t believe children can be evil. Not to be too real world about it, but the concept that children are capable of not only doing evil but actually being evil is harmful and there are some people (adults) who use that ideology as an excuse to harm children.

From a storytelling perspective? No, I don’t think Kid Belos/Philip was evil. Not only because of my personal opinions on children generally, but because of the storytelling of the Owl House itself.

Luz wasn’t born a hero. Philip wasn’t born a villain. This is like, one of the major themes of the series. People make choices! Belos chose, time after time, to do bad things that hurt people because it benefitted him and his agenda. His choices were evil and he never expressed genuine regret or willingness to change. Luz did her best to make choices that would help people, and sometimes she screwed up, but she learned from her mistakes, changed, and grew as a person.

This is like, the whole point of Watching and Dreaming and the Collector’s change to be a better person. Luz and King and Eda could see that the Collector was a CHILD. An extremely powerful child who did things that hurt people, but also a child who was lonely and didn’t understand what they were doing.

side note: regardless of someone’s opinion on the matter (which is subjective and cannot be objective because there were never scenes of Philip as a child so there’s no “correct” answer and even this is just my interpretation based on themes and personal opinion), commenting that on someone’s art?? that they just shared??? for fun and for free????? preposterous. uncouth. impolite.
