This movie is a about a young man who lost his eyesight and lives with his mother. He is occasionally visited by a doctor and doesn't want anybody to look at him. His mother hires a (albino) woman to read for him and, after some trying times and after she lies to him about her appearance, they become friends. She is heavily traumatized by her childhood when her mother mistreated her and convinced her she is ugly. She is more determined not to be seen by anyone than he is. He ends up loving her more than he ever loved his eyesight.
The movie feels like a fairy tale in its themes (dark/heavy at times) and structure and, I believe, has a happy ending after the credit rolls. It is ambitious but I am an optimistic.
The movie is a Dutch-Belgian romantic drama written and directed by Tamar van den Dop. The actor who plays the young man is not blind and is able to see in parts of the story as well.
The movie can be watched in the following link with no ads and with English subtitles. The movie is, however, mostly silent (or at least replies heavily on visuals on screen) and there is no audio description that i know of. Link here (goes to ok.ru). The movie is also on YouTube in more than one link. The original language is Dutch (with some Flemish).
