' "Oh, no, you found out. I guess I'm defeated." Don said, and Miriam was just. Frowning. A fowl mood indeed. "Just get over with it and behead me."
"You literally saved me just now." She argued.
"Prove it." Miriam growled.
The King and Queen shared a look of confusion, not knowing what to do in that kind of situation. Miriam sighed and turned to her parents, determined to make them see reason.
"Why would he help the citizens? Or leave the sword for Yohan to pick? He has been on our side all allong!" She claimed. Her mother seemed to be intrigued, but inclined to believe. Her father just stared at his wife, as if to cheat and just copy whatever decision she made.
Don looked increasingly pale. Why was he so adamant on staying anonymous about his help in the battle? He shifted his weigth and took a deep breath.
Uh-oh. That was a sign of trouble.
"I've been mind controlling her the whole time." He said, flatly. Shit.
And just like that, the court hall went into chaos. '
