Simpbur working as a waiter in a local diner you visit for pancakes, every morning and every morning, he has your coffee or tea ready and a newspaper at your favorite booth. No matter what.
And you're touched. You wonder if he's single in a passing thought, surely not. Someone as nice as him.
And then he tells you tips and neat tricks that come in at the right time you need them, it's so crazy. Like, you were having trouble with your stove and oven and whatnot and just the next day you were able to fix it with his advice in the back of your mind. Saved you a fortune, you sang his praises.
And then, you see him sometimes at the grocery store. Well that can't be helped, the town isn't that big and you can't possibly be aware that he'd committed your schedule and regular spots to memory. You couldn't possibly know about the extra key he managed to make without your knowing.
He doesn't know how but it gets easier when you lose your things at the diner and every time it gets easier to look you in the eyes and tell you that he has no idea where they've gone. But they're stuffed into his locker in the back of the diner.
And you may not know it yet but you were going to be his.
