it’s transgender day of visibility, and I had to throw something together because mcga is really special for trans representation. a mainstream children’s book series having an openly trans genderfluid poc character who is adored by the mc and fully developed as her own person is honestly unbelievable, especially for a book released in what, 2016? rick riordan’s rep may not be perfect, but I know that alex fierro’s existence has been so influential for young queer readers (including myself, back when I first read mcga!) the art isnt my best work, but I knew I had to honor this trans icon 🏳️‍⚧️
