okay so day one of the blizzard was called "oh god it's actually hitting us" and seeing if the animals were okay. There was a foot of snow blown into the barn and the coop door blew off, but chickens in the coop were okay and goats in the barn were okay. Everyone was covered in frost. The pigs were not visible and it was too horrible to go find them. But we bedded them above their ears before the storm. No sign of the pony either, but we guessed that she was in her "spot" weathering it. One chicken was frozen in the middle of the driveway. I have no idea why she was out there.
day two was "are the far away animals even alive?" day. The fear had set in about it last night. They were! The pony got brought into the barn because the drifts are 6 feet tall and climbing. She was covered in snow like it was wool on a sheep, but she is just dandy in the barn. I was more worried about her stamping me bc she was PISSED. The pigs pushed all their bedding out of the house and were pigcicles. We had a bloody tail from it freezing to the ground, but after I fed them I piled everything up cozy and they were doing better. The blizzard has been on and off hell. The drift outside of the barn is over 8 feet. There is 2-3 feet of snow surrounding the chicken coop.

Snowy structures in a blizzard. A pea trellis in the foreground followed by a couple of apple trees, and the rose garden arbor in the distance. Behind them all is a sea of snow coating everything: fences, tall trees, and the cemetery. We are hunkering down, safe and sound. Praying we keep power to stay warm.
