It’s really interesting how he’s having them all focus on different skills using different training exercises not specifically related to soccer. Swimming for Chigiri was pretty interesting. I guess Yukimiya is studying the blade or smth. And Sendou is…. Hunting the beast it seems.

There's been some confusion around whether this is simply a reflection of the sword on Yukimiya's glasses or if he's wearing an eye patch but I personally really like the idea of him training with the patch bc it's not only a really great way for him to learn to play around the black spots in his vision but patching is also a legitimate and proven method for vision correction. Obviously it won't help with a progressive diagnosis such as optic neuropathy but it would help in the short term!

That being said, this panel did give me some anxiety for what knsr is cooking with Yukki so I did some research and there have been some notable soccer players who have played with limited vision/ eyesight in one eye:

Gordon Banks, an English player who was awarded NASL Goalkeeper of the Year in 1977, 5 years after losing sight in his right eye following a car crash

Wilfried Hannes, a German striker turned defender who lost vision in his right eye as a child, known for his forward surges and long distance shots

Georgi Minoungou, an Ivory Coast winger playing for the Seattle Sounders FC, who lost vision in his left eye in 2023 after a serious infection. He's played on the U20 team for Ivory Coast

Dean Shiels, an attacking midfielder from Northern Ireland, who was blind in his right eye since childhood. He made 14 international appearances for Northern Ireland and managed Coleraine up until April

Kealia Watts (nee Ohai), a forward from the U.S. who is legally blind in her right eye. She represented the US in the U17s, the U20s, the U23s and the senior national teams. Scored the winning goal in the 2012 U20 Women's World Cup

I think if this is foreshadowing then Yukimiya will be fine. He's determined and passionate enough to push forward no matter what and I'll be rooting for him every step of the way 🥹
