Spirit Mob & Kid Reigen

The spirits couldn’t get near the kid; they had been following him all day and were ready to pounce when a tiny little thing perched itself on the boy’s shoulder. Was is the most unassuming and small spirit they had seen in a while, and it looked like it would’ve made a nice appetizer before they moved on to the kid.

Except when the leader took a step forward, there was a flare of heavy, potent energy and then nothing. The little prick of a spirit had obliterated a high level spirit like it was nothing. It gave them a glare that would not have been so threatening a minute or so before. A strong barrier erected itself around the spirit and its human, keeping them from getting close to the boy.

The message was clear: Do not hurt the boy.

So me and @fake-geek-girl-616 were talking (texting? discording?) and here’s some overview of my Spirit Mob meets Reigen before Mob is actually born AU

Kid Reigen Had an Imaginary Friend Named ‘Mob’

When he was a kid, Reigen Arataka’s best friend was an imaginary spirit that would drape itself around his shoulders. It disappeared in the May before his fourteenth birthday.

“This can be a good thing,” his mother had said, not unkindly but not understanding either. “Now that you’ve let go of your imaginary friend you can focus on school and making real ones.”

“Yeah,” he says. Years later he pretends that a cheap ad on the back of a cheap magazine is the reason why he chose to become Reigen, Greatest Psychic of the 21st Century instead of Reigen, Private Investigator.

((Aka, my urge to draw axolotl spirit Mob and young Reigen needed a backstory I guess.))

Blobby is Mob; like his spirit or soul or something

No one can see Blobby, except for Baby!Reigen. He sticks around the only person who can see him, and he’s Reigen’s best friend. (Reigen’s the one who names him Blobby) He likes to kinda sit (lay? He doesn’t have legs) on Reigen’s shoulders and float around him. Very protective of his human; will vaporize evil spirits who come near his human. They’re BFFs until Kageyama Shigeo is born and Blobby disappears suddenly. Because he has to go to his body, yknow?

Blobby Mob gives good hugs;very squishy. Good pillow. Little antennae hair things are very wiggly
