I realized that I never made a fan account about the Block B USA Showcase and my experience of running into Block B on the streets of Washington DC! I know that my sister (her twitter @ is in the pictures in case you would like to follow her) has written about her experience, but nobody has ever heard the story from my point of view. It all started on Monday, June 23rd. My sister and I were awake late into the night and suddenly thought “what if we leave to go to DC tonight instead of tomorrow so we can meet them at the airport?” And with that, we decided to quickly pack our things and drive to Washington DC.
Missed Encounter #1 - It's kind of funny because the entire time in DC it seemed like we kept inadvertently crossing paths with Block B but never actually running into each other - until we literally did. We got to the airport barely on time with seconds to spare (or so we thought). We waited at the doors with a few other BBC’s for what turned into a couple of hours. We thought that maybe they took another plane and were delayed. After waiting and being extremely confused as to why they hadn’t arrived, we learned that they rode in a bus from New York to DC. So we left the airport with our spirits low and went to our hotel (this is just the beginning of weird chance "almost" encounters with Block B).
Missed Encounter #2 - We were debating on what we wanted for dinner, either Daikaya (a ramen restaurant) or Honey Pig (a Korean BBQ restaurant) and we eventually decided on Daikaya because it was closer. Later that we night we learned that Block B had eaten at Honey Pig for dinner. We went to bed a bit angry at our own decision for dinner and mentally prepared ourselves for the concert on the next day.
Missed Encounter #3 - We woke up feeling good and walked around DC and the venue earlier that day before the concert and we stopped inside the Starbucks beside the venue to look up directions and to cool down from the heat. Literally minutes after we left we learned that JAEHYO CAME OVER TO THE SAME STARBUCKS RIGHT AFTER WE LEFT. Starting to get fed up with our bad luck, we went back to our hotel and got ready for the concert.
Missed Encounter #4 - The concert was absolutely amazing. My sister even surprised me with hi-touch tickets for the both of us (BLESS HER). The only down side of the concert was when they were calling out tickets to go up on stage and play charades with Block B. The girl right next to me (who had honestly been rude all during the concert and even tried to steal our seats) got her seat called. Later when Block B was setting up for the hi-touch, my sister shouted “PYO” and he looked up and smiled and waved to her (she just about died).
The hi-touch was crazy, I was all over the place and still in shock from my sister just telling me that she bought the tickets before our section got called up. My sister was in front of me and she hand hugged Jihoon and said "안녕하세요" and "사랑해" to him. When I high fived Yukwon we also hand hugged and I said "사랑해요" to Yukwon and he made this "OH!" noise and he looked at me with a surprised face and smiled haha. We kept eye contact for about 2-3 seconds (which felt like 10 minutes to me, everything seemed to be going in slow motion). I was so distracted by Yukwon that I almost missed Minhyuk's hand haha.
As we were leaving the venue, some fans mistook our car for one of the ones for Block B and we had our car surrounded by fans before they sadly learned that we were not Block B haha. Ending the night up, we meet up at a noraebang with some other BBC’s and sang to our hearts content.
The next day, we were walking to the mall from the metro and as we were turning a corner, we nearly crashed into Yukwon and Jiho! WE WERE LIKE ONE FOOT APART. We were all kind of startled and stopped in front of each other before Yukwon and Jiho shook it off and kept walking. Then as my sister and I were registering what just happened I whispered “Is that..?” and she whispered “Block B?!?!” and they must have heard us because they nodded and smiled.
They were walking to their bus for their next tour stop in Miami and we both backed off (about 15 feet) to give them some room. Yukwon noticed us and looked at us from head to toe slowly, literally making the full head motion (I guess trying to judge if we looked dangerous or like stalkers???) He made motions with his hands asking us if we wanted to take pictures with him. He beckoned us over and we got pictures with Yukwon and Jiho!
Yukwon took a picture with my sister first, he reached his hand around in front of her and gave a thumbs up for the picture. While my sister was busy taking a picture with Yukwon I stood off to the side and I noticed that Jiho was watching my sister and Yukwon taking the picture together. As soon as she finished and looked in his direction he turned away like he didn’t want to be caught looking (almost like he was bashful). Yukwon took a picture with me next and took his glasses off. Since Yukwon is my bias, I was extremely nervous and I must have been practically shaking or vibrating next to him since I look so blurry and he came out perfectly fine in the picture.
Then my sister asked Jiho if we could take a picture with him also (since she’s the brave one she had the guts to ask him). He turned around quickly with a surprised and excited expression on his face, like he was happy that we wanted a picture with him also and not only Yukwon. My sister took the picture with Jiho first and she was really nervous, she was shaking the camera and Jiho made this adorable “awww” noise as he reached out to help her steady the camera. Once again, Jiho looked at my sister and smiled while he was helping her to steady the camera but I don’t think she noticed because she was so focused in keeping the camera steady.
Then Jiho took a picture with me and I was trying to give him space because I didn’t want to be right up on him and weird him out but he decided that we weren’t close enough so HE PUT HIS HAND ON MY LOWER BACK AND PULLED ME CLOSER TO HIM. WE BUMPED SIDES. In the middle of my sister taking the picture I felt something touching my arm, only to realize that it was Jiho’s arm brushing up against mine (as you can see in the picture)(I WAS DYING INSIDE). Apparently he did the same thing to my sister, we learned that Woo Jiho is a touchy guy.
After we took the pictures, Jiho tried to talk to us in Korean. We indicated that we didn’t know much Korean and thanked them for the pictures and for the showcase. We backed off again and the other members came over and we waved to them all as they were waking to their bus and they waved back. When Jihoon walked by he finger gunned my sister and made a pouty face when he realized that he couldn’t get a picture with us too so he motioned that he had to get on the bus.
Before we headed back home we decided to eat at Honey Pig. They were playing Block B music videos on the TV’s throughout the restaurant. As we were eating, the host for the showcase from the night before came in and sat beside us! We also learned that the waitress just happened to seat us at the table that Block B was sitting at the night before! So our poor start to this showcase ended perfectly and way better than we ever expected
