Ace's 2025 New Years Introduction

Hello everyone, and welcome to 2025! I thought I would make this post both an update and an introduction about me and this blog, combined with some of my musings. The start of 2025 brings me to my 8th year of knowing Sherlock and my 7th year of writing about him. It’s crazy to think this because honestly since 2020, everything has jumbled together and it has been difficult to remember anything, alas. Sherlock and my fictionals have made it with me through it all, and truthfully, they have saved me more times than I could count. 

I would like to say 2024 went without its struggles, but between moving for graduate school, landing a part-time gig, taking summer classes, finishing a semester early and graduating in early December, it has been a lot. That, plus finishing up my last week of my part-time gig and frantically trying to apply for full time positions has been overwhelming and a pain. 

I wish I could have written more and dedicated the time to Sherlock and the usual and new muses I have acquired (ie. Arcane characters, Sandman characters, and four new OCs), but it was rougher than expected and my energy stores drained. I am grateful for all the support along the way and it warms me to think of all the new people entering into the Sherlock fandom. Fandom is so wonderful and I have enjoyed the people who have joined me in my corner that I affectionately refer to as “the alleyway.” All the comments, reblogs, and overall community have made it worthwhile. 

Some updates I have are that I am slowly migrating a lot of my work over to my Bakerstreethound A03 account, as I find it an easier way to publish my work and keep it organized. I will still be utilizing Tumblr for some stories, but I am hoping to dedicate more time to upload and backlog stories to my A03 so I do not lose them to the Tumblr void. That being said, I have not remembered a lot of my taglists, so I will not have a tag list going forward, just adding a few of my mutuals in reblogs to see if it will be of any interest to them. 

I am overwhelmed with the love many of you have shown with my iteration of Strawberry Sherlock, my soft, more humanized version of Sherlock. I am thrilled others are still discovering him and adoring him (as he deserves). I could not have made it without all you lovely people and I thank you for your support and kindness. May we strive to do the best we can and I hope 2025 will be a good one. I know I am reserved and not the best conversation starter, but my inbox is almost always open (though I do not usually take many story requests anymore), but feel free to stop by and say hello!

ooc: blog update

//Okay- sense  online classes  is starting again in a few weeks. I have decided to make threads for mutual only- asks can still be sent in by anyone. But to turn it into a thread, gotta be mutual (that said- if you are a side blog- who follows from a main account, then you good ^^ threads can still happen.) but hopefully- this reduces my stress level and keep everything organize on this blog ^^ I also updated my rules . to reflect these changes and to clarify some things. Which i hope makes sense.  If yall have any questions or concerns, ask box and ims (or dms if you have my discord) are open. ^^//

Basically I'm not in a good place and have decided I need to seek psychiatric help. The good news is that I've still got my webcomic plans, and have started work on a Ren'py visual novel with a writer friend of mine. The VN could even spark the launch for my NSFW Patreon. Middle-of-the-road news, waitlisted for BABSCon again, but it's not like I've produced pony fanart - or any art - since last convention. So I just need to start sketching like mad to shake the rust off and get back into the swing of things.

also I will now be signing all my personal content as Mrs. Q. That is who I am. Honestly I am sick of thinking of "nicknames" It is to complicated for me and can at times cause me sever anxiety. So Mrs. Q it is.

Blog update:

1. I'm going to try to clean up the blog a little.

I've numbered each asked and answered post in the order they've come in, for ease of reference. Not only that, but I've also tried to tag if a message was a response to another post, to keep conversations together. That part's not finished yet. It's not a perfect system, but it should help keep things in a bit of order.

Since Tumblr's tagging and search system aren't great, I hope this will help to find posts.

You do not have to claim a message you sent, use the same number, or anything if you don't want.

Each new ask will get its own number. It's just for search and reference.

If you are responding to a specific post, please let me know which one. You'll find the number in the tags.

2. On Sunday night/Monday morning, I'll be turning anon off for a while to let things cool down. This will be temporary. It feels like it's getting a bit too tense since some are no long addressing just me, but other anons. I don't want to be used as a talking head or mouthpiece. If you have something to say, you can still message me or send an ask. You'll just have to attach your name to your words. Avoiding people you disagree with is a lot easier when you recognize their face.

And I would hope you'd avoid them as much as possible. It's just not worth fighting with people over opinions. I can say from personal experience, if a fan is being abusive towards other members, a mentality of not giving them any space to voice their thoughts eventually forces them out or creates a small circle of just people to echo their thoughts. It doesn't have to effect the whole fandom. Of course, in any fandom we'll always have to deal with differing opinions. So hopefully we can find a balance.

So, if you have something to say on anon, now's the time. I'll still response to the ones that are currently sitting in my inbox and whatever comes in before I close it.

3. Another reason I'm doing this is that I don't want the Devil's Night Series tag to become unusable. Imagine a new fan searches for the series and instead of seeing mood boards, HCs, fanart, and fics - people having fun in general - they see us going back and forth over opinions. It's not very welcoming. I know my posts have bogged down the tag, and that makes me feel pretty bad. I hope I'm not discouraging others from posting.

I'm not blaming anyone but myself for the situation the blog is in. Since I expect messages will slow down, I'll take this time to consider how I'm responding to your messages. Hopefully a small reset for the blog will help.
