It keeps the same perspective as you do in the .hack games, rarely ever seeing the actual player, to the point you forget that Judgement_Kazzy is just Kiryu's player character, not actually Kiryu. And I go down the list of characters and decide their player name and place them in the job class I think they'd fit best (Majima twin blade, Tanimura steam gunner, etc) and their race (Watase a beastman of the Ya tribe) then you just set them off on adventures of your own devices!

Yagami Detective Agency is instead of an actually agency a guild with Yagami in charge, and they go out and solve instances of PK or PKK attacks, people swindled out of unfair item trades, etc.

And of course you'd still have your original .hack characters. Nishikiyama-kun will give Endrance a run for his money as one of the most beautiful players, Ichiban going on quests with Matsu way above their level and getting their asses handed.

I haven't set out to write any concrete stories yet (I'm pretty terrible when it comes to working on things) so I've just been slowly fleshing out character concepts - wave tattoos, clothes, who would be arena rankers, a PKer, a PKKer, forum regular, there's an array of things that keep my attention away from any actual writing sadly fjdjgngn
