ABO
To anyone who dosen't know, the O-Bloodtype is a zero, not an /oh/
,it sounds odd since the AB0-Bloodsytems is otherwhise only letters but it dose make sense based on how the system work. The blood types get their names from the antigens your blood has. These are tiny sugar moluclues that sit on your blood velsels. A-Type Blood has A-antigens and simalrly for the others. OBlood lacks antigens, which is why its Zero.
FunFact: AB is the only blood type that dosen't produce (ABO) antibodies. It is the universal recipent.
The way we catogorise blood is actually made of two diffrent systems. The negative and postive is enitrily dependent on you Rhesus Factor, which is the D-antigen. If you have it you are postive and if not you are negative. Combined you get the 8 bloodtypes that are refferd to most commonly.
FunFact: Your region can change what blood type is the most common tend to be A or O, while AB is rarest. Aditonaly + is dominat, making AB- the rares blood type. FunFact: O- Blood has no antigens that other bloodtypes can react negativly to, making it the universal donor. FunFact: Who you can donate to and recvice from is diffrent. Negative can donate to Postive, but not the other way around. 0 Bloodtypes produce antibodies to the antigens, makeing them unable to recive other blood types safely. AB creats two diffrent antigens, makeing then able to only donate to themselfs despite being able to recive from every one. FunFact: Extremly rare blood types are thoes that have lack antigens that 99.9% if people have, or are missing common combinations or have uncommon combinations. Some have less then 10 Donors world wide. Examples are Rh-Null(about 50 people) which lacks all RhAntigens or the Bloodtype Bombay, which is named after the city in India (Mumbai), since it is most prevelant there with a rate of 0.01%/1 in 10000.
