==> chap 2
Amy’s life wasn’t exactly normal she got her share of dark /weird /tragic series of events. But nothing from what she experienced had ever prepared her for this.
“If someone told me 3 days ago” she said to herself “that I’ll be standing in the middle of a hidden temple down Central Park in front of an about to be president of the U.S senator, 2 powerful CEOs, a crime lord, a famous designer, and a rich ... Creep! Whom are all vampires who form a secret council that run all of New Work and about to determine whether I’ll live or die?”
She continued
“Fuck, I’ll call’em crazy and run as fast as my legs can take me”
The council members have been arguing, since the moment Vega, Senator Adam Vega to be accurate started the meeting an hour ago
“Since this is about the empty place in clan Sayeed, I’ll be leading today’s meeting instead of our senior member” he motioned to Kamilah who nod in approval, although Kamilah didn’t speak a single word since she came she still radiates power and grace.
Vega continued “I open the vote proceedings on the post-facto petition Amy Clark to join clan Sayeed”
All eyes turned to Amy
“What a snack” Priya Lacroix the famous designer eyed the girl hungrily “what about handing her to me” she winked at Amy “you and I will have so much fun”
Kamilah looked at Priya like she’s seriously considering what she said
“I mean how bad it can be” Amy said to herself “I’ll take anyone but Kamilah”
“I say we give that place to that Jax dude, with their leader in our pockets we’ll end the clanless rebellion” said Lester Castellanos
“Oh! The creep has a brain after all”
“Guess who the crazy one is now? Amy” the blond inhaled deeply “How did I get myself in this madness anyway?”

« Where am I? » Amy opened her eyes confused
“It is dark, cold.., I can’t move.” she shifted trying to regain even a fraction of control over her body but she failed.
“I can’t...” her heart beats started to race “why? Am I dead?”
“Hunger! I’m hungry” she thought “I’m craving something, like my life depends on it, but what is it?”
Suddenly a wave of light overtook the darkness surrounding her, and then she heard a man’s voice
“It’s time!”
When her vision adjusted to the light, she looked around making sense of her where about
“A basement? I’m in a sarcophagus!” she said.
The place is ancient like it’s out of a fairytale castle of old. Next to her a handsome man in a suit, it look expensive. There is also a woman standing far away, she’s well dressed too, wearing a purple jacket over a white shirt and dark purple pants. But she looks annoyed, like she’d rather be anywhere else but here.
“They look familiar!” She thought
Memories of the night’s events that come rushing to Amy, she jumped overwhelmed by what she remembered.
“I was .., the party .., blood .., that girl!” she said in panic.
Amy was cut short by the woman, she was standing in front of her in a flash.
“How did she got here that fast”
The woman leaned closing the distance between them; allowing Amy to get a better look. Her expression is a mixture of anger, grief and regret. But gods! she is so beautiful, a goddess everything about her is perfect from the light brown silky skin, brown straight hair to the crimson red eyes of hers, down to her full lips Amy could’ve melt in the woman’s touch, well if it wasn’t for the hand chocking her and the deadly look the woman’s giving her .
“That girl had a name” the woman snarled, jaw tight “and you killed her”
“Kamilah, please!” the man appealed to her.
She loosens her grip on the girl’s neck and in a blink of an eye she was by the stairs leaving.
“Wait! Where are you going? We must explain ...” the man tried to stop her.
She posed mid-way fists clenched “I don’t want to see her face. Not now” she turned her back and kept walking
“Deal with her.”
And like that she left.
Amy didn’t understand what was going on “why is she angry with me. What did I do to her? I don’t even know her” she asked herself confused, the man who still there approached.
“Please don’t mind Kamilah, she’s still grieving.” he helped Amy sit
“I’m Adrian ... Raines.” He introduced himself
Adrian was nothing like Kamilah Amy thought there is sadness in his eyes, buried deep inside but he has a smile warm enough to reassure anyone who sees it that everything will be okay.
“Raines, huh!” Amy looked at him “like that rich CEO”
“The one and only” Adrian laughed softly his expression turned serious “Amy I know that you must be confused and that you want answers” he looked at her concerned.
“What I’m about to say may sound crazy, but it’s the truth. You remember the party right?”
“Yes” Amy answered heart pounding in her chest somehow she know what he’s about to say. “It wasn’t a nightmare, it was real. What I saw is real” she said to herself.
“Because of that attack, the only way to save you was to turn you. Amy you became a …”
Adrian resumed
“A vampire.”
*******
Back to the present
“Vampires! Who would’ve believed they do exist. Vicious creatures of the night, and now I’m one of them”
Adrian’s voice cut her thoughts
“Are you all forgetting Elizabeth’s wish?” that gained the others attention “she wanted Amy to take her place and we must honor her last wish”
Kamiah’s body tensed at the mention of Elizabeth’s name, but she quickly regained her calm composer, it happened in a matter of seconds but Amy noticed the change, maybe it was thanks to her new high senses that she noticed in the first place, but to be honest the girls couldn’t take her eyes off the “Vampire Queen” as Adrian referred to her.
Amy didn’t saw Kamilah since that day in the basement. Although Amy knew how much the old vampire despise her, she couldn’t help but yearn to see her again, there is this thing about Kamilah; it’s like a magnet drawing the blond to her. But in this case it’s better to describe it as a moth drawn to fire.
That basement was under Adrian’s company. The young CEO was nice to Amy “Tho he told her that he wasn’t as young as she thought”, Adrian explained everything to her about the vampires, the clans and how she must be accepted in a clan or else the council will execute her or she’ll turn to a feral whichever come first. He also walked her through her first feeding.
“Amy! .. Amy!” it was Vega this time who got the new blood out of her mind space “Do you want to add anything before we resume”
“No” Amy shrug.
“Okay, if you are in favor of her petition for clan membership, please say ‘aye’.” Said Vega
“Adrian?”
“Aye” Adrian declared.
“Priya?”
“She’s better placed with my toy collection” Priya purred like a cat “So Nay”
“Lester?”
“Nay” Said Lester.
“Baron?”
Amy looked at the Baron. Adrian told her all about him, despicable, vile, a criminal through and through.
But when she saw him today he didn’t look like how Adrian described, beside his curses at Priya and Lester’s comments he didn’t say anything.
“Elizabeth and I had our differences” he grumbled “but I respected her and I’ll respect her wish, it’s an ‘Aye’ from me” said the Baron.
Adam cleared his throat “That’s 2 ‘aye’s, and 2 ‘nay’s. My own vote is an ‘Aye’ I have no reason to object, bringing the ‘aye’s to three.”
“Four ‘aye’ votes are needed to pass the petition” he stated “that means the deciding vote goes to Kamilah.”
Amy stood there petrified “Kamilah’s vote will determine my fate” she swallowed hard, her heart started pounding like a hammer.
Kamilah smirked looking at the girls for the first time since she graced this temple with her presence, “Is she enjoying seeing me like this” Amy thought “she must be hearing the raising of my heart beats” the blond closed her eyes “breath Amy … breath, don’t give her the satisfaction”
There is no doubt that Kamilah want Amy dead, but she seemed divided/ tormented between 2 paths ‘Having to live with the one who caused her little sister’ death from now on by Accepting Amy in her clan’ Or ‘taking her revenge and not respecting Elizabeth’s last wish’.
The vampire queen closed her eyes, she made her decision.
Waiting for Kamilah to cast her vote felt like ages. It’s like time froze.
“Aye” Kamilah said and regretted saying it the moment the word left her mouth, but there’s no turning back now.
All the noises around Amy was muted, Priya seems displeased, Vega and Raines are saying something about her getting some kind of a brand but she didn’t care, she should be happy, relieved. But she’s not, instead she feel guilty, ashamed, tears forming in her green eyes “Maybe I don’t deserve to live, why did I survived? She should’ve lived not me”
She saw Kamilah heading her way; Amy tried to gather the courage to speak.
“Kamilah ...”
The vampire stopped next to Amy refusing to look at her.
Amy wanted to express her gratitude, she wanted to apologize, she wanted to hug Kamilah and comfort her.
But all that came out is a muffled whisper “s-sorry” the blond said.
New York. The city where everyone dream to visit and admire its beauty. The busy streets overpower the voices in your head, the thousands of people walking by dont care who you are and the skyscrapers were higher than my hopes.
It was the perfect city for me. My parents got divorced five months ago and i needed a fresh start, a place to be who i always wanted to be. But how responsible can a 20 year's old girl can be?
I was naive enough to leave as soon as i could. My mother's words echoed through my mind "This city hides its danger behind its beauty" but back then i just laughed it off thinking it was her way to keep me close to her.
I am not from a big city. We lived in a barn a couple of miles away from humanity. I wasn't experienced in working but i helped my father with his finances enough to know what i love to do.
When i laid my foot in New York my breath was taken away from me. The skyscrapers covered the sun, the one higher than the other. People didn't give second glance at you because they were to busy to care. Back home everyone knew who i am, a shadow of my parents.
This was my chance to find myself and start over, no rules, no yelling, no stress. At least that's what i thought. Young me didn't knew that finding a job in a city this big was hard. My applications got passed to every possible place i could work in until i settled to a coffee shop near my apartment.
Luckily for me Lily was looking for a roommate and we loved eachother since we exchanged glances. She lived in a small place but we made it ours. She was usually playing video games in the living room when i was coming home and we always ate leftover pizza trying to beat eachother in Mario kart.
3 years ago I wasn't sure what life had in store for me, but be sure i didn't knew it would turn out this way.
It was a quite evening and me and my friend from work Lucy were about to close the shop when we heard the door bell ring, an elegant woman approaching. I sighed trying to put on my best smile trying not to give reasons for my boss to fire me.
She was on her phone texting god knows who but she was so consumed that she didn't even look me in the eyes when she ordered.
"One black coffee, and make it quick" she spoke like she owned the world, and i knew right away that i hate this person, at least thats what i thought at the time.
"I am sorry but we dont serve attitude" i responded quite proud of myself because my words were enough for her to get her eyes off her phone.
She smirked mischievously making me question if i should be scared but her eyes were so intense that everything slipped off my mind. They were caramel and bright. Her suit looked expensive and so did the neckless that hanged beautifully on her open blouse
"You don't know who you talk to do you?" She said not breaking eye contact
And that's when Lucy came to save me "Here's your coffee" she said handing her the cup but she didn't bother to look at her, she was to busy eating me with her eyes
"Why thank you, try to be more like her, at least she knows her place" and like that she flipped her perfect brown hair and left the store
"Ugh who does she think she is?" I rolled my eyes
Lucy looked surprised and i could tell but when she was about to say anything our boss came from her office furious
"I dont pay you two to chat, now go clean the counter before i think twice about keeping you here" she was a bitch if you couldn't tell yet but i needed the money.
___
Two weeks had passed since i was fired. I couldn't help but put my boss into her place. I knew i risked my job but my days haven't been the best. Each night i see weird dreams of people screaming of people dying, of blood being spilled.
Lily said it was all the horror movies we watch on the weekends and i believed it trying to avoid the reality that they felt to real to be just nightmares.
Losing my job was a slap on my face waking me up. I wanted to be more than a girl who worked on a coffee shop. Back when i was younger i was always handling my father's finances and i was quite good at it.
Maybe i am stupid to even send an application in one of the biggest Financial companies but i was desperate to prove anyone who doubt me wrong, let alone the payment was better than any other job
I honestly didn't believe that i would even get an interview but i did and it was today.
"Girl relax, its just a job interview" Lily tried to reassure me but i was to anxious to calm down, i really needed this job
"Yes, with one of the biggest companies that exist, honestly maybe i should cancel and--"
"Hey hey hey, calm down i am sure you will kick ass" she said smiling "but not literally"
I cracked a smile appreciating the effort but i just grabbed my coat and left not wanting to be late and make a bad impression
"I will call you when i am done Lil, Love you!"
___
As soon as i stepped out of the taxi my stomach turned. I was a nobody trying to be someone in the wrong place. I am sure qualified people from all around the world would kill the have this position but here i am outside of the big building scared to even enter
A kind gentleman opened the door for me and as soon as i got in i was greeted by a woman
"Are you Miss Parker?" she asked kindly
"Yes i am here for my interview" i said trying not to panic at the thought that in some minutes i will be talking to the most successful woman in the finance industry
"Well Miss Sayeed is having a meeting right now but it wont take long, please have a seat"
As i sat down i immediately relaxed. This sofa was better than my bed. Miss Sayeed sure had an expensive taste considering the lobby decoration, i wonder how her office looks like
And then it hit me, i didn't even looked up to see who this woman is and now i am sure i will fail miserably and--
"Miss Sayeed is waiting for you, the office is on the 100th floor, good luck" she said looking at me pitifully like she could read my thoughts.
The elevator was going fast yet slow, enough for me to try to think of an escape but it finally came to a stop and the weight of the situation sank in my stomach
There was a long hallway and on the end of it there were two big wooden doors. Surprisingly there wasn't any secretary desk or anything, just an empty bright hallway.
My heels clicked on the expensive marble floor and with every click that echoed on my mind my anxiety was becoming worse. When i reached the door I wasn't sure if i should knock but i did even though she was expecting me
"Come in!" I hear from the other side, and i could swear that voice sounded familiar.
I opened the heavy door as my heart was racing. The office wasn't as i expected it to be. Everything about it was unique and beautiful. There were artifacts everywhere accompanied by expensive vases and a desk in the middle of it all
The papers she was holding were hiding her face but she somehow sensed my hesitation and gestured at me to sit down
I sat on one of the leather chairs that were Infront of her desk and i could feel my heart beating fast on every part of my body.
She finally let the papers down and my breath was caught "No way" i managed to say looking stunned
"Oh my! I know you from somewhere" she said looking skeptical
I wanted the earth to swallow me whole the moment i looked into those familiar caramel eyes
"That's right, you are the girl from the coffee shop" she smiled but it was anything else than genuine
"I- yes i am.. i am Amy Parker" i said folding my hands trying to look as professional as i could. But it wouldn't matter, she saw me with a pathetic outfit on a coffee shop that i didn't even treat her good at.
I sighed but then i saw the amusement in her eyes, something that made my blood boil
"Well this should be fun, why don't you tell me what are you doing here, you couldn't get enough of me?"
I smiled sarcastically, god she was so cocky and it only had been three minutes
"If i knew you are this CEO everyone talks about trust me i wouldn't even send an application here" i said rolling my eyes but she didn't look mad, just curious
"On a serious note, why do you think you deserve a place in my company" she suddenly turned to serious in a blink of an eye
"I- um i am not as experienced as anyone here but i helped my father back home with the finances and i managed fine" i said proudly sitting straight to the chair
But her serious face broke as she started laughing "Oh wow you made my day, you think handling a small business and the world's biggest company is the same?"
My heart stopped at the sight. She was actually making fun of me and it felt familiar considering the opinion my parents had for me. Without realising it i frowned looking at the floor and Kamilah noticed
"I am--"
"Save it, i knew coming here was a mistake but thank you for confirming it" i said getting up in hurry, putting my coat on. I don't know why i even bothered dressing up for someone to insult me in my face.
"You think everyone is below you just because you have a company?" I crossed my arms as she looked at me surprised, like nobody ever questioned her words
"Excuse me?" She now stood up reminding me that she is much taller than me
"Excuse you yes, i heard all kinds of things about you but i never bothered to look who you were, and guess what they were right you are cold, heartless and so damn cocky"
These words came out of nowhere and i quickly covered my mouth scared that i would say worse things
She gazed at me with her intense eyes never leaving mine "Is that right? And you believe everything you hear?"
"I just saw it in the way you talked about me, forget it i dont belong here" and like that i walked towards the elevator only for four words to make me stop my tracks
"What about a deal?"
I turn around only to see her approaching me dangerously close "I will hire you, and if you prove me you are worthy i will take back everything i said"
How could she even make this a deal? Maybe this is how business people apologize but maybe just maybe this was my opportunity to show everyone my worth.
Her hand was extended studying my features to find any hint of hesitation but i took it in mine shaking it hard
"Game on Sayeed" i said with determination in my eyes
Days had passed, and Amy hadn't remembered anything new. Kamilah stared absently at the hospital doors, car ready to take her home.
Kamilah was tired, not having slept since the accident. She couldn't tear herself from Amy, afraid she'd forget her all over again. She'd been answering questions from Amy and telling her stories about their time together.
The nurse appeared, pushing Amy in a wheelchair. Kamilah walked over to her, immediately sensing the tension from her. She was afraid of what was coming, and Kamilah couldn't blame her.
"Hey you," she said with a smile, holding her breath. She'd only been gone for 10 minutes, it was foolish to think she'd forgotten her already.
"Hi," Amy said softly, the slightest hint of relief in her eyes. "This is your car?" she asked, eyes wide.
"Yes," Kamilah said with a shrug.
"You didn't tell me you were rich," Amy replied, standing.
"Oh," Kamilah said, caught off guard. "I have my own company."
Kamilah blushed. "It's nothing special," she said, brushing Amy off as she helped her into the car.
Kamilah climbed in beside her, shifting the car into drive. Amy was quiet as she drove.
"How are you doing?" Kamilah finally asked, stomach in knots.
"As good as could be expected," Amy replied, wringing her hands nervously.
"If having everyone come over is too much, we can cancel," Kamilah said, eyeing Amy with worry.
"No," Amy said quickly. "I want to meet them...see them. They may shake something lose."
Kamilah nodded as she pulled up to her apartment. "Okay," she said softly.
Kamilah led Amy into the apartment, both of them nervous. Kamilah knew she was placing too much hope on this moment, and she knew it wasn't fair to Amy, but she couldn't help herself. She missed her. She missed Amy knowing her, she knew her better than anyone.
She unlocked the door, stepping into the apartment and holding it open for Amy.
"Welcome home," she said with a smile.
"Thanks," Amy said hesitantly, eyes desperate for anything that looked familiar. She was quiet as she ran her hands over Kamilah's things.
"I'm sorry," she finally said, eyes falling.
Kamilah walked over towards her, taking her into a hug. "Don't be sorry," Kamilah said, holding her close. "It's okay. Everything's okay."
Amy finally pulled away, walking further into the apartment. She looked back at Kamilah like a lost puppy.
"Let me show you to the bedroom," Kamilah said, stepping past her. She walked back the hall, pointing out rooms as she went. "You can sleep here," Kamilah said. "I'll take the guest room."
"Oh," said Amy. "I can't kick you out of your room."
Kamilah put her hands on her shoulders. "I want you to be comfortable," she said. "It's okay. Promise."
Amy nodded, dazed. "Thank you," she said before walking into the bedroom and closing the door.
Kamilah walked back to the living room, flopping into the couch. She was exhausted, but her mind raced with thoughts of Amy. How do you help someone who can't remember their entire life with you?
She rubbed her eyes, opting to turn on the television in hopes that it would drown out her thoughts.
Hours passed, and Kamilah snapped back to reality when Amy shook her shoulder.
"You okay?" she asked, brows furrowed.
"Of course," Kamilah said smiling.
"It's almost time for everyone to be here," Amy said, looking at Kamilah's wrinkled clothes.
"Yes," Kamilah said, standing. "I'll go change."
She moved to the bedroom, changing her clothes quickly. She heard voices in the entry and rushed back out so that Amy didn't have to face their friends alone.
"Hello," Kamilah said as she walked into the living room. Lily and Jax stood there, speaking with Amy.
"Hi Kamilah," said Lily. Jax nodded in her direction.
"Amy," Kamilah said, "this is Lily, and Jax." She explained her relationship to each of them. Amy nodded, her eyes tense.
"I'll get drinks," Kamilah said, moving to the kitchen.
Amy took in the two strangers before her. She'd hoped that they'd be familiar, somehow, but she didn't remember them. Apparently she'd lived with Lily, and they were best friends. Jax was more aloof, he reminded her a little of Kamilah.
The door opened and another man walked in. He wore an Armani suit, hair clean-cut and smile wide. His grey eyes sparkled as they looked around, finally settling on her.
"Adrian," she said, surprising herself just as much, if not more, than the others.
Adrian looked at her, eyes wide. "You...remember me?"
She was relieved to find something that didn't seem entirely foreign.
A crash from the kitchen broke their attention, everyone looking to Kamilah. She leaned down, focused on cleaning the glass she dropped. She pretended she wasn't aware of what was happening in the living room as she tried to blink back the tears. How could she remember Adrian, but not her?
No, that wasn't right. It was good that she remembered something. Good for her, good for him...good for everyone.
"Kamilah," Adrian said, stepping into the apartment. "Let me help clean that up."
"I've got it Adrian," she said, more harshly than she'd intended. "Thank you," she muttered, trying to soften it.
Amy heard the pain in Kamilah's voice, and she felt terrible. She didn't mean to remember Adrian, but she couldn't take her eyes off him. He made her feel safe and secure. It was the first time she'd felt that since she woke up. The first thing that felt...like home.
Jax cleared his throat, diffusing the tension. "So," he said, looking around. "Is it time to break the news to her?"
The fear in everyone's eyes made Amy uneasy. What could they possibly have to tell her that would scare them all so much?
Amy refused to stay with Kamilah that night, so Adrian put her up in a hotel nearby. He returned to Raines Corp after helping her settle in and found Kamilah in his office, staring out the window.
"Hi," he said quietly.
Kamilah didn't turn to face him, simply taking another drink from the glass in her hand.
"She…" Adrian started, struggling to tell Kamilah the news that he knew would hurt her further. "She didn't want to stay in your apartment tonight. I got her a hotel room."
Kamilah was still, the news not surprising her. She watched as cars drove by on the street below. So many people, living their lives as normal. And yet here she sat, her word crumbling around her.
How could they live as if nothing happened? How was she supposed to go on, as if nothing happened?
"Kamilah…"
"Adrian," she interrupted, her voice heavy with emotion. "I can't."
He walked closer to her, his heart breaking for her.
"Can't what?" he asked, concern gripping him.
"I can't talk about it. I can't face the fact that she barely remembers me, and what she does remember…" she trailed off, her voice cracking. "What she does remember is me hating her."
Adrian stood behind her, unsure what to do. Kamilah had never been so broken and vulnerable in the entirety of his time with her.
"She--"
"Just pour me another drink," Kamilah said, raising her glass to him. Adrian frowned, taking the glass and pouring out the remainder of the almost empty bottle.
"Thank you," she said as he handed it to her.
Adrian stood beside her silently, carefully putting his hand on her shoulder. He could feel the tension she was holding and he felt terrible for being part of the cause.
Kamilah sighed when Adrian touched her. She knew this wasn't his fault, but that didn't make it any easier...any less painful.
"What do I do?" she asked, her voice so vulnerable it practically tore Adrian in two.
"Be patient," he said, not having much to offer her. "She's remembering, it will just take some time."
They sat in silence a little longer, Kamilah staring at the moon, her heart as empty as it's crescent shape.
Finally she stood, ready to face the empty apartment that was waiting for her.
"Goodnight Adrian," she said stiffly, patting him on the shoulder.
"Goodnight Kamilah," Adrian said sadly, turning to watch her walk out of his office.
Kamilah walked out into the cold morning air. It hit her hard, forcing the air from her lungs, but something about it felt good.
She climbed into her car and began driving. She'd intended to go home, but ended up driving aimlessly around the city.
When she saw Priya's club, she decided to stop for a drink, or twenty.
It was in the late morning hours, so the place wasn't too busy. Kamilah sat down at the bar and ordered her drink, looking around.
She'd never been much of a fan of Priya's club, but it beat the loneliness that waited for her at home.
A man at the end of the bar stood and walked over to her, sitting down beside her. He wore a suit, his dark hair slicked back and a smile on his face.
"Can I buy you a drink?" he asked, looking at Kamilah's full glass.
She downed the drink, calling his bluff. "I don't know, can you?"
He raised his eyebrows in surprise before flagging down the bartender.
"Another for me, and whatever the lady is having," he said.
Kamilah knew she was playing with fire, but she needed to drink and he was offering.
The bartender sat their drinks down and Kamilah took a big gulp.
"Whoa there," said the man, eyeing her. "Drinking to forget?"
Kamilah rolled her eyes. "Drinking to drink," she said, cutting him off.
She and the man stayed there for hours, the man buying her drinks and trying to make small talk and her drinking and turning him down.
By the time the bar was closing, she'd had enough to feel the buzz.
"Thanks," she said to the man, turning and walking out the door to her car. She was out of it enough that she didn't notice the man follow her out to the parking lot.
"Hey," she heard him say as his hand clamped around her forearm. "I just spent a small fortune on you, I think you can be a little more polite than that."
Kamilah smiled. She'd secretly hoped this would happen.
"Leave me alone," she said in no uncertain terms. But his vice-like grip tightened around her arm.
She turned to him, a dark grin on her face.
"What are you smiling about, bitch?" he spat at her.
Kamilah grabbed his hand from around her arm, flipping his hand back in a fluid motion until it snapped like a twig.
"You shouldn't have done that, bitch," she said. The man wailed in pain, dropping to his knees.
"You broke my wrist!" he shouted.
"When a woman tells you to leave her alone," Kamilah said, glaring into his eyes, hers blazing red. "You listen."
He nodded whimpering and holding his hand. "I'm sorry," he cried. "I'm sorry."
"Get out of my sight," she muttered, watching as the man struggled to stand and run away.
She turned with a sigh, pulling out her keys as she walked over to her car. That had helped, but she still missed Amy.
She didn't see it at first, but as she unlocked her door she noticed the folded piece of paper under her windshield wiper.
Confused, she reached out and pulled it from underneath the wiper, unfolding it.
Scrawled across the paper in large letters were four words that almost made her heart stop.
