it seems like i have been having a heartfelt discussion with my tumblr lately, by which i mean, showing the ways that you guys are in my head and that I often think about the ways you’ve said a thing and that yeah the things you’ve said often get lodged in my brain like whatever a sutra is. or a tag. I think of some of your sentences as tags organising my thoughts. and i assume we all do this. and i feel like i haven’t been showing you all enough that i do this.

this post is about how reading Nina Auerbach’s Our Vampires, Ourselves is still one of the most important things to ever happen (thanks tandess) and about how i didn’t have a way to describe what was so important to me about reading Nina Auerbach until vermiculated said “and it might have changed everything which I think.”

last week I was at the book launch for Anwen Crawford’s book about Live Through This (which is a great book I recommend it a lot) and at one point she talked about how making zines had shown her that things can exist next to each other and you don’t have to explicitly structure and link them for the reader and she took this approach with her book too, and afterwards i was talking to my friend about how i really liked what Anwen had said and then i quoted bloomcity to him like “you know, like when Anne Carson says there’s nothing new but the connections you make between things.”
