Things in life don’t always go according to plan, a lot of the time things might not even be planned in the first place. You didn’t plan too much, only when you had to. As for Jason, he had almost everything planned for him, so he didn’t usually think to plan for himself.
Neither of you had planned a child, though. Everyone gets the warning about using protection and dismiss it as if it’s natural to remember. You and Jason had many of those warnings from different people, yet you both didn’t think about protection at the time, just the pleasure.
Now you were sat, staring teary-eyed at the positive pregnancy test. The thought of having a child wasn’t something you were against, but you were a high school student, far too young to have a child and care for it, especially with someone with so much going on in his life.
The tears were mixed, part happy and excited, but also part scared and dreadful. Jason would be a good father, you knew that without question, but he wasn’t in the mindset. Jason was stressed about his family, constantly pressured at school, and part of you was nervous that he would refuse the child because of it all.
Naturally, because of all this, you were more than a bit scared to share the news with him. You knew you’d have to, but the question was when would the opportunity come up? It’d have to be soon, and you wouldn’t be surprised if he started getting suspicious quickly, he knew you well and can easily tell when you’re worried.
That night you didn’t sleep, you thought everything over, thought of a thousand different ways to tell Jason, and imagined them. Some ended badly, some would end pretty well. All of them had more than one outcome, and that made everything much harder for you.
You feigned sickness the next morning, which proved to be easy due to the darker than usual bags under your eyes. You didn’t know whether you were happy or terrified when you heard Jason outside your window, on one hand, you now had a good time to tell him, but on the other, you had to tell him.
You peeked out the open window, spotting the redhead quickly, a bright smile on his face as he watched your face pop up at the window. You quickly backed away from the window and took a few deep breaths, walking to the front door and opening it slowly, Jason giving you an odd look as he stepped inside, you closed the door behind him carefully.
He sat down in the living room, raising a curious eyebrow at you, “I was hoping to make bad jokes, but I can tell something’s up, so what is it?” he asked quietly, more serious tone than usual. You immediately sighed, “I really need to tell you something, and I couldn’t sleep last night because I’m scared about your reaction” you mumbled out quietly.
The words that left your lips caused the Blossom boy to perk up, concern flooding his features, “hey listen, whatever it is you can tell me. I want us to get through all these things together, alright?” he whispered, eyes pleading, begging for an explanation.
Sitting down next to him, you shut your eyes at the familiar feeling of his arm wrapped around your shoulder, “ I’m pregnant, Jason...” you whispered without a second thought, opening your eyes to watch his expression change.
It changed, but not as you expected it to. A smile bloomed on his face and his eyes got glossy, and before you could blink you felt yourself being picked up and spun around.
His laugh was contagious, and when he put you down you were wrapped in a warm hug, his head pressing into your shoulder. You felt him take a shaky breath, “I’m gonna be a dad. I’m gonna have a kid with you, and we’re gonna be a family” he whispered almost dreamily, grinning into your shoulder.
Tears of joy ran down your face, and you quickly hugged the boy. He hesitated a moment and backed away, “but what if I screw the kid up? I mean you know how my family is and-” “Jason, don’t worry about that for now, we will figure everything out. Right now let’s just enjoy this” you cute him off, smiling at him through tears.
The boy nodded and hugged you tightly again, breathing deeply as he suggested a movie and popcorn. The rest of that day was spent watching movies, and everything was alright, at least for a little while. Jason and you had planned different ways to get around your families, coming up with a sort of ‘escape plan’ that seemed perfect. You and Jason were going to live happily, as a family with your soon to be born child, and you were okay with it, you were both happy to have some relief, knowing that you and your child would be safe.
Then on July 4th, you and Jason left. Ran away to what you both thought would be your future life, and the future life of your child, at the time where you thought you’d all be safe, out of harm's way...
