Summery: Jane meets a girl from a small town during a case and invites her to lunch. Authors Note: Kinda wrote this like butt and reader isn't actually that shy just like a loner I guess I don't know fr I'll get better trust Word Count: 1,068 Requests Open!!!

Never in your life did you expect something like this to happen in your small little town. But of course that how it happens. No one expects to turn up dead and when it happens it shakes the whole town. He CBI, whoever that is, was coming around town investigating anything and everyone.

You didn’t really have any part in anything, didn’t even know the victim. Well not really, everyone knew everyone to some degree. You hadn’t even thought the CBI would want any part in talking to you but the victim apparently had come by the diner you worked at before she died. Now the owner was being talked to by a woman with dark brown hair and a serious look stuck on her face. The man with her was quite the opposite though. There was a permanent smile plastered on his face it seemed genuine enough though, his blond hair was striking and beautiful.

The man didn’t seem too interested in the conversation happening though. He was walking all over the place and hadn’t sat down or asked a question once. Your boss, who was being questioned, told the staff to keep working like normal but you didn’t have nay tables so you just sat around doing some small tasks.

You hadn’t realized you were staring till you met the blond mans eyes and he gave you a small smirk. Your eyes were immediately diverted away from him, embarrassed to be caught. Dread slowly washed over you as the sound of his foot steps coming closer and closer reached your ears.

“Hello,” the man said simply as he found a spot near you to stand. You didn’t meet his eyes just nodded a little.

“Hello.” You said back, short and with a quiet voice. You were never good with interactions lie this, let alone ones with CBI agents. The man looked behind him to his colleague and then back to you.

“I’m Patrick Jane I’m with the CBI,” the man you now know as Patrick Jane introduced himself and paused. “You know I am with the CBI but I’m not an agent so don’t let that intimidate you.” Patrick finished.

You sigh a little, “then what are you?” You ask, still not meeting his intense gaze.

“I’m a consultant, I just help out.” Patrick explained with a shrug of his shoulders. You watched him lean against the counter you were standing at. You sigh a little when you realize he was planning to be there for a while.

“What’s your name?” Patrick asks curiously. You look up at him for the first time and notice his striking blue eyes are intently fixated on you. It makes you blush a little at all the attention Patrick was giving you.

“I’m just y/n,” You say. It felt a little silly that an agent - scratch that - a consultant was taking so much time on you. Maybe he was just bored, he seemed bored.

“Well ‘Just y/n’ do you know about the girl who was murdered?” The consultant made quotation marks with his fingers when he mocked what you said. The teasing tone in his voice and the smile you saw on his face when you looked up from what you were doing told you he was just joking.

“No I don’t really know people like that, I mean I knew who she was but,” you paused before you could keep scrambling. “I don’t know, I don’t know many people at all. And she definitely didn’t know me.” Is all you say.

You needed Patrick to hurry up with all this because your current task was almost all up and then you wouldn’t have anything to focus on and take your attention away from the man next to you. Patrick nods along as you speak even though it’s practically incoherent.

“I see,” The consultant says, “Why is that?” Patrick asks as if he’s genuinely curious. It makes you chuckle, the absurdity of the question.

“Well I’m not really that big of a people person for starters.” You respond and Patrick hums in acknowledgment but he just shakes his head. “What?’ You ask, glancing over at him.

“No ones a ‘people person’, not really. There’s a secret to being out going and a ‘people person’.” Patrick explained, his hands waving around as he spoke. You just scoff a little under your breath.

“I guess.” You say, used to people telling you things about having to be out going and just getting ‘out of your shell’ which was stupid.

“You don’t believe me.” Patrick said looking over at you with that same intense stare as before.

“It’s not that I don’t believe you but I’ve been told stuff lie that my whole life. This is just who I am.” You said, gaining a little courage from your annoyance with the man.

“So you don’t want to know the secret?” Patrick asks ,with a cunning smile plastered on his face.

You sigh, “Sure why not, what is it?” you ask as your shoulders slump as you turn your body a little to look over at the consultant who had a mischievous loo on his face.

“Well I can’t just tell you. How about you show me where a good diner is around here and we can get lunch.” You blush a little and look away shaking your head.

“I don’t know-” You start but Patrick cuts you off quickly.

“Why not?” The man asks and you don’t have a good reason not too. You stumble over your words for a second trying to thin up an excuse but yours and Patrick’s attention is caught by the agents calling Patrick’s name.

“Jane we gotta head out. Now.” The woman says, waving at the door as she walks out. The man made a face of acknowledgment and stood up straight fixing his coat.

“Well that’s my cue to leave, I’ll be back here tomorrow for lunch and we can find somewhere to eat. Yeah?” Patrick asks as he slowly makes his way to the door.

“I uh, yeah I guess but-” you scramble to find the right thing to say but eventually just give in. The bright smile that floods Patrick’s face is enough to make you blush and turn your head away.

“See you then y/n!” Patrick exclaims with a wave goodbye, and happily jogs to follow his partner through the door.

The team was on about day seven of their most recent murder investigation, the case wasn’t anything crazy but the victim was someone of somewhat high status making the paper work hell on earth.

Rigsby and Cho had taken to an office room so they could work on their joined paper work in peace which was of course broken when a certain consultant that felt left out. Cho didn’t mind too much considering he was quite good at tuning Patrick out, poor Rigsby though.

“So how is it going with Vanpelt?” Patrick asked his coworker absent minded as he played with a quarter, flipping it through his fingers with ease. The tired agent just sighed.

“There’s nothing going on we are just coworkers-” The agent started but was cut off by the other men letting out their respective scoffs and a “bullshit.”

“Ok ok so I haven’t asked her out so what?” Rigsby was starting to get frustrated with all this big talk from Patrick he was hearing recently.

“So what? It’s been forever Rigsby you’ve gotta ask her eventually that’s what. I don’t know why you’ve even waited this long.” Patrick shook his head in thought as he teased his friend and colleague. “And after all that advice I’ve given you.” Rigsby shook his head and rolled his eyes.

“How good is your advice anyway? I haven’t seen you with a woman like ever, sure you can flirt but where’s that gotten you recently huh genius?” Rigsby exclaimed clearly annoyed from both the paper work kicking his butt and his selectively annoying friend.

Cho looked up from his papers to glance in between the agent and consultant. Patrick grasped the quarter in his hand and sat more upright in his chair.

“I’ll have you know that it’s gotten me a-” Patrick stopped himself. Trying to act nonchalant - and like he didn’t almost spill something he shouldn’t- the man laid back in his seat. “It’s gotten me many things Rigsby.” Patrick said with an innocent shrug of his shoulders.

“Wait a minute Jane, what was that?” Rigsby asks, his focus completely abandoning his paper work in turn shifting it to Patrick. Even Cho was perking his head up.

“What was what?” The blond asked and damn was he good at lying, but Rigsby was an alright detective and has known Jane for years so he kept pushing.

“You were about to say something but you didn’t.” The agent points a finger at the consultant as if he’s accusing him of an evil crime.

“What would I have even said Rigsby? You’re being foolish.” Patrick says in defense and before Rigsby can retaliate Cho cuts interrupting the conversation.

“he was about to reveal his girlfriend.” Is all the agent says like he didn’t just drop a bomb shell onto his friends. Rigsby’s face drops in shock.

“What? Jane you have a girlfriend?” The man asks in disbelief looking between an indifferent Cho and a bashful Jane. “And Cho knows about her?” Rigsby furrows his brows at the last question.

“I found out, I’m not an idiot.” Cho says, his focus already back to the papers in front of him. Rigsby on the other hand has his full body turned to the accused man.

“So who is she? And how long has this been going on? And- hey wait a minute Cho are you calling me an idiot?” Jane can’t even get a word in and hasn’t since his secret has been aired out. While the two agents bicker Jane collects himself. His team knowing isn’t a bad thing per say but he had hoped he could reveal it under different circumstances.

Jane’s voice too Rigsby’s attention away from his bickering with Cho. “Her name is Y/n I met her when we were working a case - remember that small town we had to go too a while back for the triple serial case? So I guess it’s been going on since then.” Jane wasn’t ashamed about it at all, in fact he was very proud and happy about his relationship with you. He simply wished to keep you away from this life he led at the CBI as separate from you as he could.

“Wow, really?” Rigsby asks the disbelief evident. When Jane nodded his head with a genuine smile on his face Rigsby just shook his head. “Hey I mean good for you, wait who else knows?” The agent asks his coworker. Jane just shrugged his shoulders and began playing with his coin again.

Rigsby stood up and made his way to the office door to which Cho tried calling him back considering the fact they still had work to be done. The man just waved him off making the annoyed agent turn to Jane.

“Look what you started.” Cho deadpanned making Jane chuckle a little and innocently shrug his shoulders as he too stood up to follow Rigsby. The man had found both Vanpelt and Lisbon in the main office area looking over a computer.

“Guys you’ll never believe this.” He started to which an irritated Lisbon and an interested Vanpelt look up from their work. “Jane has a girlfriend!” Rigsby exclaimed after leaving enough time for dramatic build up. The man of interest walked in right as Rigsby revealed the news.

Vanpelt smiled and looked over at Jane happily while Lisbon just looked at Rigsby as if to say “really? This is what you’re off task for?” Jane just smiled and waved Rigsby off with a bashful look on his face.

“So what?” Lisbon asks, slowly getting more and more annoyed. The other agents just ignore her in turn to focus on Jane.

“Jane really? That’s so great!” Vanpelt exclaimed happily, she was glad Jane was finding some love and friendship in his life. She worried about him sometimes. Suddenly Vanpelt let out a gasp at a good idea she just thought up.

“We have to meet her Jane!” The red head agent exclaimed happily to which Rigsby made a wide eyed look with a wicked grin and their superior just sighed while slightly shaking her head.

“You know we should, see what this is all about.” The trio watched Lisbon pick up her things and go to the office room where Cho remained. In turn Rigsby took the open spot next to Vanpelt. Jane had an unsure thinking look on his face as he shook his head.

“I don’t know,” The consultant said then hesitated, “she has been wanting to meet all of you for quite some time,” Jane was mostly thinking aloud at this point but the two agents nodded along as he spoke anyway.

“Then lets do it!” Vanpelt exclaimed, always happy to meet new people. Rigsby threw his hands up with an idea.

“How bout when we all go to dinner together after this case is done you can bring her.” The man suggested and Vanpelt made a sound of agreement. Jane, with the same sense of uncertainty as before just shrugged his shoulders as he turned towards his couch that was on the other side of the room.

“Maybe,” he said, “probably not,” Jane was walking towards his his couch now and spoke with a ‘maybe-maybe-not’ tone. “But maybe! We’ll see.” And with that the consultant plopped down on his couch happily taking in the coziness of the plush leather.

The two agents just looked at each other with the same annoyed expression but took that as their sign to get back to work. Vanpelt put her focus back on her computer and the paper work Lisbon had left behind. Rigsby begrudgingly dragged his feet back to the office where Cho and his boss worked.

A well timed buzzing caught Jane’s attention right as he was getting comfy. Pulling out his phone to check the caller ID he recognized it as you. A small smile reached the man’s face as he lazily brought his hand up to his ear, pressing answer.

“Hello dear, to what do I owe the pleasure?” Jane’s sleepy voice was static-y through the phone but you grin either way.

“Well hello to you too Patrick, I was just thinking and there’s a city band thing happening a little ways away tonight. Would you like to come with me?” You ask your boyfriend cautiously trying to hide the excitement in your voice. The date would be amazing but you didn’t want your boyfriend to feel bad in the case he couldn’t make it. Of course even if he couldn’t, he’d still go.

“That sounds amazing y/n I’d love too,” Jane spoke through a sigh, imaging how nice the date sounded. “I’m free to come home soon, boring paper work and all that needs to be done.” You chuckle and the sound makes Jane smile.

“Well then fill out the paper work faster I was hoping to maybe go somewhere for dinner too,” You teased your boyfriend, on the other line you heard him shuffle around on what you assumed was the couch he has told you about.

“Yes of course dear that sounds lovely,” Jane responded with genuine fondness in his voice. Thinking for a moment he spoke up again, “oh and uh I have some,“ he hesitated, “news.” You hum in response, urging him to go on.

“The team found out about you,” he paused, “and us.” Again, Jane wasn’t ashamed of his relationship with you at all. Under any other circumstances he’d have told his team, his family, way sooner.

But there was a fear that suffocated him every time he tried to talk about you, bring you up, or anything of the sort. But Jane loved you and needed to conjoin the two parts of his life eventually. The man could almost hear the happiness that enveloped you at his words.

“Really? That’s great!” You thought for a moment before speaking again. This time more reserved. “Isn’t it?” Jane’s heart ached a little bit, you were so interested in his team and wanted to meet them since you and him started this whole affair.

Jane nodded even though you couldn’t see him, “Yes it is a good thing.” Your boyfriend assured you and even though you could hear the reservations in his voice you knew he meant it.

“Well than when do I get to meet them?” You asked excitedly to which Patrick chuckled.

“Soon soon, never fear. After every case we have a celebratory dinner of sorts.” Jane explained. “And you have been invited to come along.” You boyfriend finished to which you gasp a little with happiness.

“That sounds great Patrick!” You exclaim, the joy bubbling up inside of you. Just then Lisbon walked into the large office room Jane was currently attempting to take a nap in.

“Hey Jane, get off your ass we need you for something.” She commanded and waved in the direction she came from with a nod of her head. Jane just sighed and groaned as he pushed himself up to instead be sitting on the couch.

“Well dear duty calls,” the man says into his phone making you pout a little.

“Aw all right if you have to go.” You voice is slow and sad as you speak which makes Jane’s heart swell two sizes bigger. “I’ll see you tonight though for dinner and the band right?” You ask before you say your goodbyes.

“Yes of course,” Jane says with a smile, “I sadly have to go now. See you tonight. I love you y/n,'“ Jane’s voice is smooth and reminds you why you swooned for him in the first place.

“Ok ok don’t let me keep you. I love you too Patrick, see you tonight!” And with that the lines dies and Jane is left to go do more soul sucking paper work that he’d trick Rigsby into doing later. The warm thought of getting to see you tonight kept him going and gave him the energy to stand up from his couch.

“Common Jane,” Lisbon says impatiently as she walks back to the office room that the rest of the team resided.

“I know I know,” Jane held his hands up in defense. When he got to the room he found it filled with his friends sitting around chatting and having fun despite their boring circumstances. The thought of getting to share you - the most important person in his life - with the people he has come to call family was enough to bring a happy smile to his face and some water to his eyes.

Early Morning Cookies

Summery: Fluffy early mornings with none other than your consultant husband Patrick Jane. Oh and you have been baking cookies for him and the CBI team and Patrick thinks you're spoiling them Authors Note: Sleepy Patrick how I think of you often...And lets pretend the FBI team doesn't exist and they stay the CBI team forever so this works out in the timeline ok bye Word Count: 1,186 Requests Open!!!

It was a beautiful morning. The sun was shining through the curtains casting a warm glow throughout your and Jane’s house. Distant chirping could be heard as birds flew around through the early morning breeze.

Jane had woken up a couple minutes ago and immediately noticed the empty spot next to him in bed. A slight panic pulled at his heart until his senses woke up with him. Jane could smell whatever treat you were baking in the kitchen, he could hear you singing along to the music you had playing. Suddenly all the panic filling Jane’s chest was replaced by something much softer and warmer.

Your husband let out a blissful sigh before pushing the covers away and shaking off the sleep that still froze his body. Before making his rounds to the bathroom and his closet, Jane went to the kitchen where you were having the time of your life.

A song - that your husband recognized as on of your favorites – played quietly filling the room. Jane smiled when he heard you quietly singing along and dancing to the music.

You hadn’t noticed the man slowly making his way to where you stood next to the oven and the pan you were filling with perfectly sized cookies.

“Good morning beautiful,” Jane wrapped his arms around your torso slowly invading your space till his head rested by your head and his arms hugged you comfortably. You jumped a little at the contact but quickly calmed down and melted into the embrace.

“Well hello sleepy head I’ve been out here all alone for forever,” You whine but it holds no merrit as your recently asleep husband presses kisses onto your forehead and cheek in apology.

“Would it make you feel better if I said I was dreaming of you?” Jane asks to which you roll your eyes but he makes you smile anyway.

“Maybe just a little.” you say still playing hard to get. Your focus remained on the sheet of cookies while Patrick swayed the two of you softly.

"Whatcha making?" Your husband asks after a few moments of calm silence. Of course it wasn't hard to figure out what in fact you were baking but Patrick was fond of hearing you talk.

"They're strawberry sugar cookies," you said but interupted yourself with licking your fingers after you got a little batter on it you carried on, "they have bits of strawberries in them and I'm making a frosting to drizzle over them."

You pointed off the the side to where you had a bowl filled with a light pink icing. Patrick nodded along as you spoke humming softly once you finished.

"Sounds delicious my dear thank you,” Patrick said softly leaving a kiss on your forehead. “Is that tea?” Your husband asks looking over to the back burner of your stove. You grinned.

“Yes honey it is.” You could practically see the way Patrick’s whole sleepy demeanor shifted. “It’s not done yet but it should be in a few minutes.” You tell your husband. The man squeezes you tightly.

“Thank you dear,” Patrick sighs happily, “you really are perfect aren’t you?” He asks dreamily and you feel your heart ache at the adoration. Even after all this time Patrick still flustered you.

“Yeah yeah I know, go get ready for work the cookies should be ready when you leave so you can take them with you.” You gently pushed Patrick away as you spoke so you could open the oven freely and put the cookies in to bake. Behind you you heard a dramatic gasp come from your husband.

“What? Do I have to take them to work?” Patrick whines a little over dramatically like a toddler. You just roll your eyes and turn to look at him after setting the oven’s timer.

“Yes Patrick I made them for you and your team.” You say, the tone in your voice makes it seem like you’re scolding him. Patrick’s face crinkles in disdain.

“Why?” Patrick practically whines once again, “You spoil them far too much Y/n.” The mock sincerity in your husband’s voice makes you chuckle.

“I do not!” You retaliate with a little slap to Patricks shoulder. He grabs your hand in his and holds it.

“Yes you do! They used to be stone cold CBI agents and now they’re getting cookies weekly!” Patrick’s antics never fail to make you smile. He pulls you in slowly as he talks and you humor him leaning in till your faces almost touch.

Your lips are close enough to brush against each other as you whisper, “Go get ready for work.” Before pulling away. Patrick groans but solemnly makes his way to your shared bedroom dragging his feet the whole way there.

With Patrick gone to the bedroom you were able to focus on the other tasks at hand. You had to put a few more ingredients in the frosting for it to be ready, finish letting Patrick’s tea brew, and finish up the small breakfast you were making for you and your husband.

It didn’t take long for the tea to finish which you poured into your husbands favorite mug. Patrick happily halted his morning routines to pick up the drink along with a little kiss from you. Everything else happened with time. The cookies came out the oven along with the food you made for your husband and you to share that morning.

You frosted the cookies easily and left them out to cool so you could put them in a to go container your husband could bring to the office later. Speaking of which, Patrick sat at your kitchen counter happily enjoying his food and tea prepared by his loving spouse.

“I thought I was the one you spoiled not my coworkers.” The dramatic consultant whined after a long sip of tea. You just roll your eyes as you place the cookies into the container you had prepared earlier.

“I do spoil you, and you me.” You said not looking up from your task, “But that doesn’t mean I can’t bake cookies for our friends.” You emphasized the last word as you snapped the lid of the cookies shut.

Patrick just sighed that exhausted sigh he always let out whenever he knew he wouldn’t be getting his way but you just smiled handing off the container to your husband who was standing up to leave for work.

“Have a good day and don’t make me text Grace asking if she go the cookies or not!” You point your finger to Patrick’s chest accusatory. He just smiles and shakes his head as he invades your space happily.

“No no I know they’ll love them thank you,” Patrick had a dreamy grin on his face that warmed your heart, “for everything.” Your husband leaned down to leave a kiss on your forehead and then you lips.

“I’m still your favorite though right?” Patrick asks as he reluctantly leaves you in the kitchen and makes his way to the door.

Thinking about Ryland Grace and Kissing.

Thinking about Ryland Grace who gets all flustered whenever you want a kiss from him. But he slowly gets more and more confident.

Its started at the beginning of your relationship when you first started kissing snd every time you'd pucker your lips at him hed blush and awkwardly lean in to give you what you wanted.

Even know so long into the relationship he'd still get a little blush tint his cheeks. He'd be ranting about who knows what, something sciency you didnt really care about but it was him talking which made it the most important thing in the world.

This process repeats till Ryland just sighs and gives you a long deep kiss that leaves you breathless. "That what you want?" Your boyfriend asks making you nod.
