fireworks by megthemighty - a very cute fic where they watch fireworks together. it’s so sweet and fluffy :’) meg always writes royai romance so beautifully

silk by @hirayaart - a wonderful undercover piece. royai in high society and being sexy and cool <3  truly worth a read!

here we lie, oblivious by @firewoodfigs - young!royai sick!fic. and roy vs carrots. what more could you need?

of confessions and cocktails by firewoodfigs and hirayaart - an absolute treat of a drunk!riza fic. it was so enjoyable to read and had me laughing along with it

A Story of Spirits

Gather round, young ones, and heed my words well... for I have a story to tell...

Long ago, back when the Gods were young, they made spirits to walk and protect all life around. But now is not the time to hear of great horses that raced across land to the sea, nor the great birds who nested in mountains above... this, is a story about the the great spirit of the forests and valley.

He watches always, his brown eyes taking in all in sight, his antlers large and imposing, yet draped in moss and flowers, vines hanging from them too. His walk is a slow prance, the leaves do not whisper or rustle as he passes and the animals all pause and now their heads. His call is not loud, but gentle, rolling like the cool breeze that flows into his valley and forest, and his coat shines, dappled as a fawns but as colorful as the skies.

Some folk say, if you look to the woods at night, you may spot a glimpse of him, slowly making his patrol, protecting the life under his watchful eye... and some folk say, when you listen on a cool autumn night, you can hear his call...

Some folks even say if you venture into the wood, you may feel him around you, causing all other life to pause and hold their breath.

But I remember very well a time like this, where I was a young boy, laying out in the wood, the night loud and filled with the songs of crickets and the dashing of squirrels rushing home... all at once, the forest came to a soft pause, not an animal moved, no leaves whispered a sound, and when I opened my eyes, I saw the great protector above me, an old knowing look in his eyes. I can still remember how he nuzzles my side and pushed me to get up, and how he walked me to the edge of the wood, soundless and with his great head held high...

As I age I will never forget that walk, or that night.

Perhaps, dear children, you may get a chance like that too... to see the spirits that protect our precious Woods and Forests.

All you must do, is believe.

In terms of warnings for anything; Percy's still closeted and does get misgendered (unintentionally) a couple of times, there's Barb's eye trauma and Solomon has implied alcoholism.
