This is what I’m telling myself
remember four years ago, Kris Kobach was appointed election purity czar? and czar Kobach sent a letter to all the secretaries of state in the US demanding their voter info. It was supposed to be a big ‘shock and awe’ thing. The secretaries of state were supposed to say, ‘yes sir Mr Czar’ and supply all their data.
Instead he got fifty letters back telling him what the law was in each state. There were some amusing discords of tone and content. Some replies read like, “We regret that we cannot fellate your jackboot more obsequiously, but we’re going to need a separate court order for each voter,” and others, “you can kiss my ass and find all the info you want completely public on our website.” None of the secretaries of state succumbed to the shock and awe. All of them followed the laws of the state they served.
.
Every secretary of state in the union has a plan for getting this election’s ballots - the early and the absentee and the in-person - counted according to their state’s laws. And pretty much all of them, even the ones you wouldn’t expect, are clear that their first duty is to execute their state’s laws.
The Democratic party has an army of lawyers on speed-dial.
.
In most states, votes cast today are getting counted first. Early votes of all kinds will be counted next. There’s almost as many early votes this year as there were total votes in 2016. They will take time to count. Everyone was expecting the in-person vote to skew Republican and the early vote to skew Democrat, so I don’t need to despair in the bad part of the expected happening.
And a judge in Texas just ruled, ‘there’s nakedly partisan and there’s waving my dick in the breeze asking to get it shot off, I need at least a little cover here, file your motions in a timely manner with some kind of basis in law so I don’t have to turn you down out of self-preservation: the petition is denied.” Not quite Lawful Evil, but close enough.
.
We should know who won all the races by Friday.
I have enough booze to hold out til then.
Join our fight for free and fair elections!
Hey y’all, you may have noticed that I haven’t been very active here lately. I took some time away from the Boosh fandom to join the democracy fandom. Biden won, but the struggle is far from over.
While we won the presidency, the Democrats did not take the Senate. But we still have a chance to boot Mitch McConnell from power: On January 5th, in a special election, Georgia voters will choose between incumbent Republicans Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, or their Democratic challengers, Raphael Warnock and John Ossoff. If Warnock and Ossoff win, they will change the balance of power in the Senate, enabling us to pass the progressive legislation our democracy desperately needs right now.
I am considering organizing a fundraiser for Fair Fight, Stacy Abrahm’s Georgia anti-voter supression non-profit. The deadline for voters to register to vote in the January 5th election is December 7th, 2020. I am making this post to gauge interest in this fundraiser. Due to the tight timeline, instead of a zine, we will be auctioning off custom works by fandom creators. Fans will have a chance to prompt their creator, who will then write a short fic or create a piece of fanart based on the prompt. The creation period will be pretty short, approximately 1 month. If you’re interested in creating for the fundraiser, PM or comment, and I’ll be in touch. If you can’t commit to creating for this event at this time, please let us know if you’d be willing to support us by purchasing a commission from your favorite author or artist. And if you can’t support us monetarily at this time, please reblog our posts to help get the word out!
Thank you so much, Booshlrs, for your support of the Boosh Quaranzine. The success of that fundraiser really showed how powerful we can be when we come together for a cause. Now that we have a chance to change the trajectory of democracy, I hope you’ll consider joining us in advocating for a fair fight in Georgia.
OUR STATES WENT BLUE TONIGHT BITCH
IKR?!?!?!?! I’m literally SO proud to be a New Yorker tonight. Y’all have no idea.
President-elect Joe Biden/Vice President-elect Kamala Harris
Loving the debate between Biden vs Trump!! Biden sounds like a rational human being, Trump's literally sweating his ass off sounding like grandpa after he's drank to at thanksgiving spouting conspiracy theories. Ohh Trump is sooo fucking scared he's gonna lose...GOOD!! Can't wait to watch Biden take him down in the general election!!!!
I can’t tell you who to vote for but I can say that Elizabeth Warren has the best ideas and the plans to back them up. Standing with her feels so right. And if you haven’t voted yet, what are you waiting for? Pitter patter!
Just got done voting!!! Unfortunately they ran out of stickers (⌣_⌣”)
