Bluets (Genus Enallagma), teneral adults, female (top) and male (bottom), taken July 3, 2026, in New Hampshire, US
A matching pair of teneral bluets, still pale and drying their adult bodies in the sun! Bluets are a ridiculously diverse and common genus of damselflies, but they're no less enjoyable to witness because of that. Familiar Bluets (Enallagma civile) are by far what I find the most of, and this location was not an exception. I believe the female may be this species, but the male in the bottom image doesn't seem to have the correct color or shape claspers at the tip of his abdomen. He uses these to grasp the female and link the two of them together during mating!
