This bird was formerly considered part of the Thrush family, Turdidae, but is now part of the Old World Flycatcher family.

One of my absolute favorite local birds, the Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica)! These guys are very abundant here, and I love their personality and little songs. Very often on my walks in Spring, a bluethroat male will jump out of the bush, puff up its beautiful chest and sing as loud as he can, sometimes using bits and bobs from other birds' songs.
