The romantic honeymoon getaway of 1962. A time when you could drive a vehicle the size of a small apartment down a dirt road, trailing non-biodegradable streamers, with nothing in your pocket but hope and a booklet of Bank of America Travelers Cheques. Before ATMs and universal credit cards ruined the thrill of manually countersigning a piece of paper to buy a sandwich in a foreign country, this was the absolute pinnacle of financial security. Nothing says "I love you" quite like ensuring your funds are refundable if lost or stolen while your car gets 8 miles to the gallon.
