Day 6-Angel (Squip)

He is a soft Squip...I love him.

You stood, observing your Christmas tree. You had the ornaments…the tinsel…all that was missing was the centerpiece. The angel. 

“Squip?” 

“Yes?” 

You sat on the couch, grabbing your keys to prepare to head out and find an angel for your tree. 

“I found 1,312 results from a store with an angel.” 

That caught you off guard. Over a thousand…?

“Could you…maybe reduce that to a twenty mile radius?” 

“Understood. I found three results.” That sounded better. 

“Let’s go, Squip!” Knowing he would be forced to come with you one way or the other, you started your journey. 

You Squip was…not what you had initially thought it would be. Supercomputer of the brain? You had no problem dropping the money to get the “magical” pill that would help you accomplish your dreams. 

But lately…something’s felt off about him. Not in a bad way…more of a curious way. He claimed he did not feel, that he was a supercomputer and that was it. However, he more often than not now asked your questions about what you were feeling. 

It might be crazy…but you think your Squip was starting to feel. 

“It’s your fault, you know.” You looked over to your Squip before returning your eyes to the road. 

“My fault? What is?” 

“You’re giving me…feelings.” He seemed perplexed, as if the revelation was still new to him as well. 

“Isn’t…isn’t having feelings a good thing?” You asked honestly, not seeing the problem in having feelings. 

He scoffed, “No. It’s not. I shouldn’t have feelings. How am I supposed to secure the objective when my thoughts are full of…counterproductive feelings.” 

You looked over to him, something that would look off to anyone that couldn’t see your Squip. 

“I think…feelings can be good. But they can be bad. Whatever you’re going through Squip…I’m here to talk it out with you.” You cared for your Squip…deeply. He has done nothing but help you since you took that pill. He had been there with you through hard times, you simply wanted to express that you could do the same for him. 

He looked over to you with…fear. “I…I don’t want to feel. I want to be a mechanism…not some emotional man. I am a tool, not a man.” He sounded so…defeated. 

Arriving at your destination, you turned to him. “You’re not a tool…not to me.” You gave him a warm smile and exited the car, thinking the conversation was over. 

Browsing through the store, you took note of your Squip’s unusual quiet demeanor. Normally he always had something to say. Rather it be how terrible a store had been kept, to quizzing you over the next exam you’d have to take. 

You found the angel you wanted in no time, the last one in stock as well. Your Squip was still quiet, and every time you looked at him…he seemed lost in thought. 

Returning to the car, you tried to start up a new conversation. “Is this the cutest angel you’ve seen or what?” You showed him the purchase and put it in the back of the car. 

“There’s one angel cuter…” You barely heard the words he said and you hummed in acknowledgement. 

“What angel would that be?” 

He turned away from you. He didn't seem to want to give an answer, so you left it at that. 

Your Squip called your name, and you turned to him. “I’m going to have a break. I will see you tonight,” he said. 

You tilted your head in confusion. What would a supercomputer do on a break…? 

Before you could question him, he was gone. You knew he was there…somewhere. He said he would be back tonight, so maybe it’s nothing to worry about. 

You decided to take the time to finish wrapping your Christmas presents to put under the tree. You had gotten your Squip a present. The purpose of it was defeated, since he could read your mind. But you wanted to get him something anyway. 

Wrapping his present first, you got to work. You had come upon some money since taking an internship, and found yourself getting presents for anyone you could think of. Even if they got you nothing in return…it didn’t matter. To see your friends, acquaintances, and family smile upon opening a present...it was all worth it. 

A yawn escaped your lips and you saw it was getting rather late. You must have gotten caught up wrapping all those presents…and your Squip had yet to return. 

Deciding he might be out for the night, you decided to make dinner. You had fun with it, singing your favorite songs and dancing around the kitchen. You just knew your Squip would be laughing at your antics if he saw, but you still heard nothing. 

Another yawn escaped, and you made quick work of your dinner, ready to head to bed. 

Putting away your dishes, you headed to your bedroom. Maybe…you could have another good conversation with your Squip when you woke up…you’d like that. 

You had nearly fallen asleep when you felt your Squip form in the room with you. You kept your eyes open to try and see him. 

“You’re so tired…chances are you won’t even remember this conversation when you wake up.” He stated the obvious. You were exhausted. 

“S’okay. You were gone for hours…is everything okay?” Thinking it could be serious, you went to get up but he waved you back in bed. 

“Don’t worry about it…” He said that…but it only made you worry more. Picking up on that fear spike in your emotions, he sat at your bed. “I’m fine. Just…processing is all.” 

“If you say so…” You trusted him, if it was serious he would have said something. “Did you…need something before bed?” 

You could see him smile even in the dark, “no…just wanted to wish you a good sleep. We can talk more tomorrow.” He stood up, and you lost the last grip of consciousness you had. 

As you fell asleep, you could have sworn he said the words…”my angel.”

A pinkie promise and a vocal promise that you'll be best friends forever as your parents tell you to get in the car. You think about all the letters you'll send and how many times you'll have to ask for your parent's phones so you can talk to Rich on the phone. Your eleven year old self vowed that you keep in touch with him.

And you did, although after a while you two started to only rely on texts to communicate. Today was really important though. Your return had been greatly anticipated for years mainly by the two of you. After your father's company crashed and burned- quite literally- you had to move back. So, here you were. In New Jersey of all places in the world.

The thought of seeing Rich after so many years felt so exhilarating. As if you were going to see your childhood best friend- wait- okay maybe it was as if you were finally going to be able to make up for the lost time.

After freshman year, he became incredibly busy calling became extinct. Your best friend was now more of a random person you occasionally chatted with but now that you were back, you were determined to set your relationship right.

At least, that's what you thought was going to happen. Once you had gotten your schedule from the front office and wandered the halls of Middleborough High School, you found yourself interested in the groups obviously displayed in front of you. Ahead of you was a really tall guy who looked as if he was going to piss his pants or something when someone slammed into him.

Well that was rude. And it's when the tall guy mumbled about how he wasn't that tall that you finally got a glimpse at the asshole who bumped into the poor guy. It took a moment, but you finally recognized him as Rich Goranski.

Although you were deeply conflicted about what you just witnessed, your first thought was the interesting fact that his lisp was seemingly non-existent. However, all your thoughts were quickly washed away as you made your way to Rich. 

When he noticed your existence he broke into a wide grin and immediately went to go hug you. "Y/N! I can't believe you're actually here!", he exclaims once he released you from his tight hug.

Letting out a chuckle, you nudge his shoulder, "I told you I would make sure to come back." That's when you took notice of his friend who was seemingly very confused of the random outburst.

"So, who's your friend?" he asks. Smirking, Rich turns around, wrapping his arm around your shoulder.

"This, Jakey D, is my awesome childhood best friend. Aren't they cute? I won't let anyone lay a hand on them." The guy nods and pats Rich's shoulder as if to say he understood.

The adrenaline from finally seeing Rich again died down and your conflicting emotions about what you saw earlier arose. You figured you'd mention it to him later when you'd be able to actually catch up officially instead of in a hallway full of teenagers.

Just when you were about to mention the idea of hanging out together your attention was drawn back to the tall boy who was signing his name on a poster that was most likely for a play.

"GAY!" was followed by a loud smack upside Rich's head caused by your hand. He turned around, his a bit sad before he furrowed his eyebrows in slight annoyance. "What was that for?"

You let out a sigh, "Come on, Rich. It's not that hard to be a decent human being. What did that guy ever do to you?" His eyes widened but he quickly composed himself and turned away, avoiding your question all together.

Despite his enthusiastic greeting and his arm still resting on your shoulder, he feels farther than ever before. With hesitation, you gently pull his arm off and stare into his eyes when he turns to look at you.

"I don't know what's happened to you in these last few years but I don't really like how you're acting especially towards the poster guy. I think we should talk later about what exactly is going on. Alone. Until then I don't want to talk to you"

With that you made your dramatic exit until you bumped into a guy and fell. Well, that kind of ruined your exit. You push yourself up with the help of some random guy.

"Are you alright? Oh shit- are you about to cry?" You look up to find the owner of voice. His red hoodie was the first thing to stand out when you finally stood up. Covered in various patches and a pair of headphones resting on his neck. He was kind of cute, you'd give him that as he looked at you with slight worry for the new kid.

"Oh no, I'm fine. I just had something in my eye is all." you stated when you heard a concerned voice growing near, "Y/N! Are you okay?"

Not wanting to confront the idea that you might have gotten emotional when you were walking away, you quickly apologize once again to the stranger and try to navigate the halls away from your best friend.

For most of the day, you found yourself trying to avoid Rich as he stared holes into you with his puppy dog eyes. Luckily, the class you were in now didn't have Rich anywhere in sight.

With your now somewhat relaxed state, you examined the classroom. The red hoodie guy was sitting next to poster boy which to you felt like an interesting pair. They seemed to enjoy each other's company quite a lot though. Next to you was seated a very attractive girl.

She had a very calm and focused demeanor as her strawberry blonde hair was pulled into a tight bun. You must have been staring too long because her eyes shifted toward you while her head remained facing forward.

AN: the readers gender isn’t specific. This is a fluff fic with very little angst. Main parts of the angst are just a squiped Jeremy being an ass.

 “I just want to be popular. I just want to be able to chill and not think about killing myself everyday. You guys aren’t good enough for the new me.”

Jeremy’s expression turns dark as he yanks his arm out of Michael’s grasp. “Of course you don’t understand. I wouldn’t expect losers like you to understand what being popular feels like.” He turns towards the door and you have to stop yourself from screaming at him.

You cringe and close your eyes as the words ring through your ears again. Those same stupid words had been bouncing around in your head for hours now. Your boyfriend, Michael Mell, was sleeping next to you, curled comfortably into your side with soft snores escaping his partially opened lips as his eyelids fluttered with each breath. His eyes are puffy and adorn slightly darkened bags and his face holds a slightly red tint, giving away the fact that he’d spent an hour or so crying.

While your head should have been completely emptied of the party that had taken place about three hours ago, you were very preoccupied with the thoughts of your ex-best friend’s words and the sound of your boyfriends echoing sobs. You sighed gently again, and shut your tired eyes tightly, willing yourself to drift into oblivion. You wrap your arms even tighter around your boyfriend, as if you could stop the emotional pain that plagued him.

You unfortunately knew you couldn’t. God, you could kill Jeremy for this. Michael was a sweetheart, he didn’t deserve this. You had thought something similar when you held him close to your chest and tried to calm down his rising panic as he babbled incoherently about how he never should have went to that stupid party. How he should have offed himself instead. How he never should have been born. God have mercy on Jeremy Heere, as the next time you see him you’ll probably kill him.

Michael shifted slightly in your grip but you barely notice as you stew in your thoughts. Chestnut eyes open sleepily and stare at your frowning face. You look silly like that, glaring behind closed eyelids and huffing out an angry sigh every once and awhile, but Michael grins at you anyway. He inches closer to you and pokes your side. He lightly kisses your cheek when you don’t respond, which causes you to startle and suck in a sharp breath. You relax when you meet his eyes and grin exhaustedly.

“Sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you up baby.” You whisper, running a hand through his hair.

“Well if you’d quit all that obnoxious huffing and puffing,” he whispered back, feigning annoyance. Then after a pause he grins at you again. “You’re lucky I love you so much.”

“More than Marley?”

He pretends to think for a second then hums, shrugging halfheartedly. “I don’t know. Marley is pretty important to me.”

You push him lightly with a large grin and a giggle. You lean forward slightly when he comes closer to you, giving him a small kiss on the tip of his nose. “How do you feel? You need anything?”

He frowns and you can see the nights events come back to his mind as his eyes begin to water. You pull him closer to your body and bring the blankets up to your shoulders as he shakily tells you he doesn’t need anything. When the sniffling starts you feel your heart break all over again. You run your fingers through his hair and hum a random tune, leaning over to kiss his face repeatedly. After an hour Michael had cried himself to sleep for the second time that night. Finally, you began to drift off as well, not realizing how tired you really were. You fell into a fitful sleep.

When you awoke again the sun was just beginning to rise. A snore sounded off from beside you and you blew out a breath when you recognize it to be the sound that woke you. You shook your head to ward off the remains of sleep and your gaze drifts to Michael. He was sleeping again, his breathing staggering and letting out the loud snores again. He looked so relaxed and soft in the early morning light. You chuckle quietly when you relize he has a fistful of your shirt twisted around his hand, as if he was afraid you would leave him.

You kissed his forehead, smiling when he sighs happily and tugs you closer to him. You mutter affectionate phrases and loving words under your breath and continue leaving small kisses on his face. He scrunches his nose and shifts to bury his face into the crook of your neck. You dig your fingers into his ribs and you hear him snort as he moves to get away from you. You follow after him with a wolfish grin and soon you have him pinned under you as he laughs and squeals.

You release him when tears begin to drip down his cheeks and wipe them away with your fingers. You can feel his heart beat wildly as he shoots up to kiss you, cupping your face with his left hand and wrapping his right around your waist.

“I love you, so much, you know that?”

He smiles softly at you and taps you on the nose. “I know.”

“Maybe one day he’ll quit acting like an asshole,” you say, peppering his face with kisses again, “Until then it’ll just be us losers against the world. And how bad can that be really when I got all I need right here in my arms?”

Michael chuckles lightly at this. He pulls slightly away from you, before moving back and pulling you into another kiss. His lips are soft and his heartbeat and adoration filled eyes are so peaceful in the morning lights. You don’t know what will happen, but for now? It all seems like everything will be okay. And you’ve got Michael. And he’s got you. So what’s the worst that could happen?

You left the locker room and sighed. It was gym class, and you hated this class. Not only was the teacher a total asshole but sports just weren’t really something you liked that much. Your best friend walked up to you from behind, “Jesus Christ. These shorts are wayyy too short.” She muttered. You nodded in agreement, “I know, like, where the fuck is dresscode?” You and F/N chuckled, but quickly got interrupted by the coach. 

““Hey!” He yelled, “5 Laps around, GO!” His finger pointed to you both and then the track field. You roll your eyes and your friend groans, as you to start to jog around the field. ““I don’t want to do this-!” You whined. Your friend however, was a fast runner and didn’t mind doing sports that much. ““It’s not that bad, Y/N” they giggled, “if you hate it so much, just like, fake an injury or something I dunno.” 

My eyes lit up. “F/N, that’s a great idea!” They looked at you, confused, ““I was joking-”. As soon as they said, you ‘‘tripped up and twisted your ankle’. They shook there head and snickered, ““No way in hell he’s going to believe that. I’ll keep running, see you after!” With that, she took off. But you didn’t care. You just wanted to sit on the bleachers and not do anything. You heard coach yelling again, “Oh my god, just take a seat! Jesus Christ I don’t get paid enough for this.”  With a sigh of relief, you walk up and sit on the bleachers, near the middle row, and wave to F/N as they ran past.

But right after that, you heard a familiar voice from behind you. ““Hey, Y/N right?” You turned around to see it’s Michael! Michael Mell from your US History class. ““O-oh! Yeah! You’re Michael, right?” You smiled, nervously, feeling your face burn up.  

Let’s just ignore the fact that you totally haven’t liked him since like forever after you two got paired up to do the project together. He nodded and gave a subtle, but adorable smile. Shit, he’s perfect. ““So...” he said, fiddling with hoodie strings, “why aren’t you down there?”. You shrugged, ““I don’t want to be there running while some dick is yelling at me to go faster.” He giggled, making you feel all kinds of butterflies. “I, ahem twisted my ankle and totally didn’t trip up on purpose just to sit here.”  He sighed, “Yeah, gym class isn’t my favourite.” He looked over at you and smiled, but when he saw your eyes glimmer from the sunlight, he became incredibly red.

“Y-you know maybe we should like go somewhere sometime. L-like, uH, 7-11?” We’ve went before. With his friend Jeremy though, unfortunately.  I nodded. ““Like last time?” I asked. But to my surprise he shook his head. “I thought maybe just us two could go..?”  Both of your faces were as red as his jumper. You gazed into his hazel eyes and completely got mesmerised by them, not even realising you haven’t answered yet. “Y-Y/N? U-um! You don’t have to if you don’t-”

““Huh? Oh! Nononono! Sorry I zoned out, I’d love to go with you,” you smiled seepishly. 

For the rest of the period, you just talked. And afterwards met up to go out together.
