Any headcannons about the first time Daemon calls Nettles "Netty?" How do you think she would react both before and after there in a relationship.

A few 😊:

Before:

So for one, Nettles is an awesome name, but I think Daemon's first thought when he hears that her name is Nettles is something along the lines of: “Who the f*ck names their kid Nettles?”🤣 He’s really confused

The more he gets to know he thinks her name suits her, he lowkey gets obsessed and looks her name up in a book and finds out the properties of the plant which line up with Nettles cause she’s healing him in a way, but the nickname Netty just pops into his head one day. That’s what he calls her in his mind, but he never actually refers to her as such out loud.

Fast forward to when he actually calls her it. I imagine the first time that he calls her Netty to her face is purely by accident.

They’ve gotten into a little argument. She’s probably doing something semi-reckless or on her way to doing something reckless and he’s frantically calling out for her to stop and Netty slips out.

Nettles completely freezes up because no one has given her a nickname before. (I headcanon that her mother died when she was extremely young, her dad was MIA, and if she has, whoever raised her wasn’t very affectionate).

She’s really just stunned to silence to the point where she actually listens to Daemon and stops whatever it was that she planned on.

It’s really a combination of him calling her Netty and the way he says it(she can hear the desperation/the emotion in his voice) that makes her pause. He’s actually let his guard down and any trace of arrogance and bravado is gone. It’s him, it’s Daemon actually speaking to her and showing that he cares.

Daemon probably goes to her then and gives her a kiss on her forehead and tells her why what she is doing is reckless. He’s confessing his feelings for his Netty that night or very soon afterward 😉

After:

Once Daemon’s actually refers to her as Netty he’s never going to stop referring to her as Netty.

Or My Netty when he’s talking about her to other people or when they are alone. Like if he wants her he’ll be like “Come here my sweet little Netty.”

Nettles loves it(and gets little butterflies every time he calls her that).

She also uses it to her advantage😏

Like if she wants something or she wants something of Daemon she’ll literally refer to herself as “Your Netty.”

She probably crawls into his lap or pulls him in for a kiss as she says it.

Daemon is like putty in her hands then and very turned on😏

We all know how Daemon feels about others calling her Netty🤣

Also, it’s gotten to the point where Nettles doesn't even like Daemon calling her anything else.

One time Daemon called her sweet girl instead of Netty and let’s just say Netty had to remind him that she’s his Netty.

A little Dettles what if angst:

How do you think Daemon would react when he has to send Nettles away knowing that she was pregnant?

😓 Oof well Daemon would be even more eager to see that Nettles is safely hidden away from it all. At the same time, he does not wish for her to leave his side. He knows that no one would protect her and their child as he would. He knows how Netty herself grew up.

We get no mention of her father, but we can presume that her mother was left pregnant with her and she had to deal with that all on her own. Daemon is going to feel really guilty about doing the same with Nettles. The whole reason why she claims Sheepstealer and fights in the Dance in the first place is to give herself a better life than the life of a daughter of a dockside wh*re.

Now she’s essentially following her mother's footsteps except she’s got people after who want her dead because of it.

So Daemon is left in a pickle. He does not want to leave her, but he can’t bring her with him to fight Aemond because it will be too dangerous. If she dies in battle or gets severely injured and loses their baby he’d never forgive himself.

He can’t go off with her because if he just disappears whoever sits upon the Iron Throne(be it the Greens or Rhaenyra) will try to find him(no one is just going to let the Rogue Prince slip away) and that will also just put Netty and their child in danger.

The only choice Daemon has is to send her off alone into the unknown. A choice he’s really going to struggle with. The guilt is at an all-time high especially because I can imagine Nettles begging him not to send her away.

Now that he knows there is nothing to hide so she doesn’t want to separate from him. She wants a family. She might use the baby as a reason why she can’t leave him. That she’ll be fine, they’ll be fine because he will never let anything happen to them.

Daemon might then say something particularly nasty so that she wants to leave him. Which will of course make him feel ten times worse, even if she doesn’t believe those cruel words he speaks, but he has to send her away from him because Nettles has to live. Her story can not end there after everything she’s been through. Their child has to have a chance at life so he has to send them away and it breaks him when he sees her flying off into the unknown.

How do you think Daemon would comfort Nettles after a nightmare? I imagine it would be harder to do before they “officially” got together because maybe Daemon wouldn’t want to invade her privacy?

So it’s been established that Daemon has insomnia so he’s definitely awake when Nettles wakes up from her nightmare.

Obviously when they are together together he’s right there beside her to lull her back to sleep. Reading to her, telling her a story while he caresses her, or using more intimate methods to put her to bed 😏

However, if it’s before they are officially together then he can still hear her awakening because they sleep in adjoining chambers.

I mean it’s not like he was at the door long before she awoke contemplating rushing inside and confessing his feelings with a kiss that takes all the breath inside her body away or anything😅

He might knock and or maybe Nettles wakes up and begins to wander the halls because she knows that she won’t get any rest like this. The nightmares will meet her in her dreams once more if she tries to return to slumber.

Either way, Daemon will let her know he’s there for her. He won’t ask her to join him in his chambers, but he will ask her to follow him to the castle’s library. He’ll find a book or two on Valyria(preferably one on the first Dragonriders since he knows she has an interest there).

They’ll spend the early morning talking(and laughing) and at some point, Nettles falls asleep. The nightmare is gone. Not wanting to wake her Daemon throws a blanket over her before he starts drifting off. Getting some much-needed shut-eye because the sun will rise soon enough and they must with it.

I was reading your "To every season" fic, and all I can say is the song UNCHAINED MELODY by The Righteous Brothers goes so well with your fic! It's just perfect, especially thinking about Daemon making his journey back to Nettles while she's up in the mountains. Especially towards the end of the song with the build up just thinking of Daemon FINALLY making it to Nettles cottage after 5 long years 😭 I know "To Every Season" was mostly centered around Nettles but Unchained Melody is so perfect for Deamon in "To Every Season.

Aw it does fit😭 Especially the line(s) you mentioned: Are you still mine? I need your love. I need your love.😭

Daemon really spent five long years in that fic separated from his Netty and then when he/they finally see each other after all that time🥹 “To Every Season” is from Nettles perspective, but it is about them as a couple as well.

Bathing together just feels so intimate and sensual and honestly I just love that for Nettles and Daemon, they deserve to be soft and sweet with one another. 😊

I imagine that they dismissed the maids after they filled up their bath so it really was their us time after a long and stressful day🛁

Daemon and Mini Daemon being over protective of They're Nettles 🤣 Your OC Jon would have absolutely no chance with Nettles, and when he would meet Daemon then he would see where their son gets it from.

Like father like son🤣

Oh God, Jon for sure stands no chance. I imagine that Jon one time might have picked some wildflowers for Nettles and mini Daemon told him they look hideous with this disgusted look on his little face(which Nettles has to apologize for).

He was definitely thinking what is this little boy's problem, then he meets Daemon (and he makes that exact same face a lot) and it all comes together 🤣

Do you think Daemon was ever jealous of Hugh and Ulf for how close they were with nettles?

Jealous of Hugh and Ulf?

Those dudes give off very dude-bro energy. I can imagine them trying to put the moves on Nettles, but I can’t imagine her reciprocating or even showing that she likes them as friends.

I don’t know why, but I can’t see her viewing them as anything more than people she has to unfortunately work with.

I can see her telling them to get to stepping, however, twiddle dee and twiddle dumb take that as her playing hard to get 🤦🏽‍♀️

Daemon has jealousy issues, but even he can see she doesn’t want to so much as play patty cake with those clowns. Now if it was Addam on the other hand 👀 Yeah he might be is definitely jealous of him🤷🏽‍♀️
