Personal Headcannon:

On House of the Dragon we see both Laena and Rhaenyra hold Daemon's hand I think he's pretty used to his significant other/partner holding his hand especially when their at dinner. Nettles however doesn't hold his hand and at first when they are at Maidenpool and share their first meal together Daemon always looks down at their hands (which is very close but not touching) and he's tempted to hold Nettles hand but she never does, as the weeks go by however Nettles doesn't hold his hand but instead she hooks their pinkies together OR she fidget with his rings. Physical touch is something she craves but it's still all very new to her so it will take time to be more affectionate especially when they're not behind closed doors.

Nettles definitely isn’t used to affection, physical or otherwise. I mean probably the last time that someone was genuinely affectionate with her was when she was a baby.

Daemon on the other hand is a very physically affectionate person(In addition to the ones you mentioned let’s not forgot the belly kiss with Laena, head-butting Caraxes, placing his forehead on his brother’s shoulder).

He is not used to holding back physically from his partner or the ones he loves, but with Nettles, she’s more guarded. She’ll definitely clamp up at first if he tries to go all in especially in public. Daemon letting Nettles control the pace is what’s needed and things may go slow at first, but it’s worth the wait to them.

How about the childhood of Aizawa?

One childhood trashbag caterpillar coming up!

- He didn’t have many friends. People annoyed him, so he stuck to himself.

- He spent a lot of time researching tech for when he became a hero.

- Top of his classes because he stayed up all night studying.

- He was bullied in middle school for having a ‘lame quirk’.

- Present Mic was his first real friend, even if he was annoying.

- He’s had several cats throughout his childhood. All of them were strays on the street, but he liked to think they were his.

If you were to ever do a modern day AU for Daemon and Nettles what would it be like?

Oh, this is an interesting thought experiment. My first thought was that it would look like the TV show Scandal, but then I realized that Daemon is a prince and Westeros has a monarchy so that wouldn’t make a lot of sense (in my mind at least)🤣

Anyway, it would look sorta like The Crown(very loosely like The Crown). There would be no Dance so Rhaenyra has already been crowned queen and no one is trying to fight her accession to the throne. Daemon is her prince consort/husband/older cousin still with quite a reputation who the firm initially did not want Rhaenyra to marry. Ten years into their marriage it’s not looking so hot, but they are the ruling monarchs so they have to keep up appearances.

Nettles would be the new young intern to Daemon’s private secretary. When he’s first introduced to her he’s probably rude. He might feel some initial attraction, but she’d be completely turned off by him and his arrogance.

A couple of weeks or months later and they are at some charity event(maybe something for animals or children) where Nettles takes the place of Daemon’s secretary because some emergency happened. He wonders why she’s there and doesn’t think she’s up to the task yet, but she’s brilliant and she nails it.

If he’s not already attracted to her he definitely is now. He starts requesting her to be with him at these events (even if that’s against protocol) and he tries to charm her. Nettles is extremely weary of him and wonders why he’s being nicer to her. She can’t exactly be rude, but one day she does snap and goes off on him(he probably insults someone else and she rightfully calls him out for being a prick). He apologizes(sincerely) and the two form a “friendship.”

As the month's roll by Nettles herself starts to develop feelings for him, but try’s to suppress them. Daemon does not hide his attraction/feelings for her so he leaves the door open. She hesitates to take that final step until one cool night when they are touring the Riverlands (Maidenpool🏰 anyone). One thing leads to another and they consummate 🕯️their relationship. They are pretty much inseparable at this point.

Rhaenyra would be informed of their growing relationship by her private secretary. She dismisses it because of the arrangement she and Daemon have(he’s had affairs before). She just thinks that this is some fling that he’ll get tired of and out of his system soon enough, but then she sees the two in action and how they interact with each other. She gets freaked and starts to panic.

She confronts Daemon and tells him to drop Nettles. He threatens to completely move out of the palace and publically separate from her if he has to do that. So she relents and agrees to his terms. It’s fine and dandy until the press gets wind of the relationship📰

The firm goes into damage control and tells Daemon that he has to drop Nettles and say it was a mistake, that he’s sorry, yadda yadda. Naturally, at this point he’s actually in love so he holds firm, says he will not give her up, and asks for a divorce. As you can imagine all hell breaks loose🔥

How do you think nettles would feel or say when she hears how daemon treated Rhaena basically ignoring her then giving baela to rhaenys like a trade or how he slept with Rhaenyra after laena’s death then got married? Me personally I think she would make him realize that his actions have consequences and the life he wanted so bad was worth nothing in the end.

Yeah, she’d be really disturbed. If anything this makes her more weary about him. She already questions his motivation behind why he even likes her in the first place, but now she’s especially suspicious.

Nettles is going to question if he is with her because she's only a(young) dragon. She will wonder if he will or more like when he will grow bored with her and abandon her for greener pastures.

Daemon better pray to the Gods that she doesn’t find out about his misdeeds before they meet because if she has he’s going to have more of an uphill battle proving himself.

Honestly, this is where the show majorly messed up because book Daemon a. did love Laena and I’m pretty sure a large part of why he got married to Rhaenyra so quickly was because they took comfort in one another and she got pregnant so 🤷🏽‍♀️b. He would never send Baela off to Driftmark and b. While I do think Baela was his favorite kid/daughter it didn’t sound like Rhaena was treated like Cinderella for not having a dragon. He made sure that she at least had some dragon eggs🥚 whereas with the show I’m pretty sure Rhaena is just going to have to ask someone for them or take some for herself 🤦🏽‍♀️

They made Daemon more of a jerk than he is in the books because his one light spot outside of Nettles was Laena and their girls.

Rant aside, yes this would be an opportunity for Daemon to realize he’s majorly screwed up in the past. What he did wasn’t normal or okay and it broke the spirit of an innocent girl(Baela faired better cause she had Rhaenys, but Rhaena seems like she’s a neglected doll trapped in time, for Christ’s sake she hasn’t changed her hair in 7 years🤦🏽‍♀️).

Since this is based on the show cannon, Nettles may even meet and converse with Rhaena(she probably met Baela in the books) so she can see the effects of neglect. She recognizes what it’s like to be neglected. She’s going to draw attention to that.

Nettles will tell him how she wishes that she had more time with her mother(cause I personally headcanon that she did try to raise her, but she died from some illness when she was young). How much she wishes that she knew who her father was. How she’d give next to anything to have them there with her.

Daemon can not go back in time and redo his mistakes, but he can be a better father in the present. He can be a present father. He’s the only parent they’ve got(and since Rhaenys is gone he’s the only parental figure they have) and they deserve more from him. That they want and need more from him(they are only 14-16?).

They are in the middle of a war and people are dying left and right so now is the time to hold on closer to what you have especially your children.

In a sort of AU type reality what do you think Nettles and Daemons relationship would look like after the war?

Oh let’s see. In this scenario, Team Black has actually won the war and Aegon II was overthrown so I imagine that Daemon would arrive back at four with Nettles as his unofficial mistress(officially she’s Baela or Rhaena’s lady companion).

I’d like to say he’d take her as his second wife, but that’s pretty much impossible given the fact that polygamous marriages are longer sanctioned and Rhaenyra’s reign would be on shaky ground so testing the Faith is a no-go.

He’s obviously worked out some deal with Rhaenyra where he publically supports as Prince Consort does his duties as protector of the realm, but his private life is his own.

Privately, Nettles is his wife in all but name. Come on, did you guys see how domestic they were at Maidenpool? That domesticity(sleeping in adjoining chambers, taking their meals together, council, the baths, etc.) continues in the capitol 🥰

I think Nettles at this point has gotten rid of most of her apprehensions about being his mistress, but the court can be daunting and extremely judgmental. For respectability’s sake, and to quell some of the gossip, Daemon might try to find a husband for her (if she wishes it).

Lol that marriage would never be consummated and Daemon would in fact have the groom wait outside of Nettles' rooms on their wedding night, that is if the man isn’t a friend of Dorothy😬

The only problem I can see interrupting this blissful pair would come in the form of Nettles falling pregnant(someone forgot to brew the moontea🫢)

Nettles is a little shock and apprehensive to tell Daemon, but shes so relieved to find out he’s happy about the baby.

Rhaenyra completely flips out and snaps (and Mysaria because she’s still around). She’s tolerated Nettles up until then, but the baby(especially after she lost her last one) makes her go full-blown evil queen.

Poison may find its way into Nettles' morning tea, but Daemon takes no precautions with her health and safety, especially when she’s in such a delicate state, so, of course, she has tasters for her. It doesn’t take long for Daemon to get to the bottom of the poisoning and figure out obviously it does not end well for Queenie and her mistress of whisperers🗡️

ModernAU nettles and daemon definitely smoke weed together 🍃.

Daemon smokes cigarettes and cigars, and most likely does coke, but he’s down to get high with nettles.

Nettles doesn’t do hard drugs or cigarettes but probably vapes and smokes weed to calm her anxiety.

Oh, I can see that👍🏽Nettles’ gives off earth-mama vibes with a little stress so after a hard day she’ll smoke a blunt to take off the edge and Daemon does seem like he'd be a cokehead and would want to do a line off Nettles breast for the hell of it🤣

Do you think nettles is a virgin? I know in the books they say since she’s homeless and penniless that she might have lost it to get sheep or something, but I feel like daemon took her virginity.

Yes, I do. When it comes to Nettles it’s clear that the maesters had a racial(as well as class) bias against her. Her sexuality was just another way to “other” her in comparison to highborn Valyrian, Andal, and First Men women of Westeros.

She’s a wanton brown-skinned girl who is the daughter of a “dockside whore.” She doesn’t mind trading sex for goods. It means nothing to her.

I think it’s safe to say you have to take what maesters, say about her in certain areas with a handful of salt because they and pretty much every character who she interacts with in the story views her as beneath them.

I kinda liken it to how people view Black girls as faster than white girls who are viewed as pure, chaste, and innocent even in cases where the opposite is true. (There are studies that show that little girls as young as five are perceived in this manner🙃).

This is why when people try to mock Nettles for “shifting her skirts” for sheep yet claim that a certain character is as innocent as apple pie I get pissed the hell off. Their racism is yet again showing😊

There are plenty of other ways she could have gotten those sheep. I mean for one she probably stole them since she has a known track record of doing that to feed herself. Or some kindly shepherd might’ve given her one or two since Sheepstealer was going to take them anyway 🤷🏽‍♀️

You also have to keep in mind that Nettles likely chose to live on the streets rather than follow in her mother’s footsteps. Not demonizing those forced to partake in sex work, but Nettles clearly wasn’t built for it and would rather try her luck not knowing when or how she’d get her next meal than the aforementioned. Paying for sheep with her body is one of the last things she would do.

I can’t imagine that Nettles would willingly sleep with someone she did not at least have very strong feelings for. She’d worry too much about getting pregnant and bringing a bastard into the world to do so. So unless there was some other guy who she loved before Daemon, he was her first 🤷🏽‍♀️

Imagine how priceless it would be to see Daemon going to the mountains of the moon hoping that nothing bad happens to Nettles and that the tribes didn't harm her only to see her be a respected, honored and protected by the communities as well as an entire culture that has been created around her.

Also how do you think the ceremonies would tale place with the young men facing Sheepstealer to be burned as a rite of passage into adulthood? How do you think Nettles would perform the ceremony and how do you think Daemon would react to it as well?

He would be in for such a shock. The only reason why he isn’t jealous of their devotion to her is because he feels the same way 🙌🏽

As far as the ceremony itself goes, I imagine that it takes place sometime at night probably during a full moon(or on the solstice). The create some kind of throne or alter for Nettles somewhere near Sheepstelers liar. There is more than likely ceremonial dancing to kick off things.

Each of the young men would present Nettles with their offerings (probably their most prized or something they’ve made themselves).

She blesses them(with sheep's blood)and then sends them into the Sheepstealer’s cave.

They come back victorious bearing the scorched marks of their bravery and courage or they don’t come back at all🤷🏽‍♀️ Nettles presents them with a little trinket(a stone from Sheepstelers liar which can be used to sharpen their weapons) in turn for their accomplishments. Then a feast ensues(the main course is sheep).

To be completely honest, Daemon at first is going to think that it’s all bizarre. It's a lot to take in and the rituals seem barbaric to him. Nettles has to remind him of his house words. What the Burned Men are doing may be a bit more rustic than how the Targs do things now, but the connection to fire particularly dragon fire is still there.
