Can I request headcanons of All Might getting a call from David Shield, and how he'll react that David's daughter, Melissa, is getting bullied at school everyday for being a quirkless person and for what happened at I-Island?
A/N: So I’m not sure if things about the movie is still considered spoilers, but seeing as it isn’t out on dvd or anything yet, and im going to reference events in the movie, I’m going to tag them as spoilers (the tag will be “bnha movie spoilers”) just in case for anyone who wishes to avoid it! ^^
ALL MIGHT
-He’d be excited to get a call from his friend but immediately ask if everything is alright- seeing as the two can’t speak as often, especially via phone call, since David’s arrest. It caught him off-guard and he couldn’t help but assume something was wrong
-After some reassuring that he was alright, the moment David mentions Melissa, Toshinori is worried all over again.
-Being bullied seems as though it’s a common thing among youth, but Toshinori knows all too well how hurtful it can be; He’s dealt with a bully or two when he was much younger for a similar reason- not that he was going to say that out loud to him.
-If David wants him to talk with Mellissa on his behalf, then he would. He’d send a few emails at first to ask how she’s doing and if she needed anything, and after a while, he felt like he needed to hear the tone of voice that went along with it to truly determine if she was alright
-After some prodding, Melissa realized that Uncle Might just wanted to make sure she was okay- and also guessed that her father told him about the situation she found herself in. Knows he just wants what’s best and just wants to hear her out- which she appreciates.
-She’ll confess- at least a little bit. She isn’t ashamed to tell him about the bullying for having no quirk, it’s something she’s used to. The bullying about what happened at the opening banquet is what’s truly bothering her
-After some time, she understood where her father was coming from- not that she condoned his actions, of course- but others don’t understand why he did what he did, and that’s where the hate stems from.
-They seemed to blame her for the incident when she truly had no part? But she was an easy target to blame, she could see that, and she confided with Toshinori about this. She actually felt guilty about the entire thing- not seeing just how her father truly felt, how she couldn’t see that anything was going on, how she couldn’t do much to help stop it… she felt guilty; Again, she knew, over all, it wasn’t her fault- but she couldn’t help but think about everything she could have done different to change the outcome.
-Toshinori just listens, really. No matter how long she speaks, he sits back and listens to everything. It’s obvious that this has been weighing on her heart for a while, seeing how quickly she rants and for how long- he wants her to let it all out.
-As Uncle Might, he should have some fatherly (or, uncle-ly? No, Toshi, that isn’t a word) advice on how to handle it but in all actuality… he doesn’t. He doesn’t know what to say or how to comfort her, really. She was right, she had no part in what happened and has no reason to be blamed for it- but he can understand the guilt
-Was it survivor’s guilt? No, that wasn’t it. But something like it? More like… guilty that you weren’t able to see what was going on- he understood that. He’s been in that situation- in fact- he was in that situation then as well. He wasn’t able to help in the moment and had no idea what his friend had been thinking. It felt… helpless- he agreed with her.
-When he finally answered, he told her that he understood- not the standard “I understand what you mean” that people give- but genuinely understood how she was feeling. He admitted that he wasn’t sure what to say, seeing as she was already well aware who was at fault for the ordeal.
-Mainly says that he’s proud of her. That while these people are saying hurtful things, she’s still going about her business and working towards her goal- it’s all she can really do. Trying to argue and tell them how they were wrong was going to do nothing, they weren’t going to change their minds. People like that are just looking for someone to blame, and since she was right in front of them, she was the easy target
-Tells her that her father is proud of her too. They both know how sorry David was for everything he did, and lying to the both of them and putting them in danger, so it didn’t need to be said.
-Encourages her to keep her head up and just ignore their opinions- they’re just trying to get a reaction out of her. If she focuses on her school work and ignores their words, time will pass and they should move on with their lives, like she will!
-After they hang up, he isn’t sure if he did much to really help, but it felt great trying- especially if all she needed was someone to lend an ear. By the end of it, her voice sounded lighter, less tense, and brighter. He was certain she was going to be fine- which is what he writes to David. It may have to take some time, but both of the Shield’s were going to be okay and he knew it
if this isn't love, then there is no love.
